Gaming insider claims that Sony's rumored PS5 Pro is currently under development at the moment.

Since last year, several reports pointed out that the Japanese console maker would make big moves in releasing the Pro version of the existing PS5 soon.

As Insider Gaming's Tom Henderson claims, the PS5 Pro is now in the works. The leaker says that we could most likely see the PS5 Pro console as early as 2024. Still, he did not mention the exact date of its alleged launch.

At this point, we do not know a single information about its potential specifications. However, since it's a Pro version and it's a revamped model, we expect that Sony will optimize the power of ray-tracing for this one.

For those unfamiliar with ray-tracing, it's an important element in game development which makes use of realistic lighting effects.

Currently, the PS5 and Microsoft's Xbox Series consoles have ray tracing capability. However, it's still limited since it compromises the performance of the game when it is activated.

According to Trusted Reviews, it will be good if the PS5 Pro will receive this feature without affecting the overall graphics or performance of a game. This will be a more appealing console especially for those who are always after the visuals.

Possible Specs For PS5 Pro

The standard PS5 console has support for 4k gaming, but if Sony wants to boost its sales for the alleged PS5 Pro, it needs to bolster its current support to 8k gaming.

According to Tech Wafer, here are the potential specs that we might see for the rumored PS5 Pro.

  • CPU: AMD's Zen 4
  • GPU: AMD Radeon RX 7000
  • GPU architecture: RDNA-3
  • Memory: 18 GB GDDR6
  • Bandwidth: 512GB/s
  • Storage: 1TB
  • Expandable storage: NVMe SSD slot
  • Optical Drive: 4K BluRay

Can We See PS6 a Few Years From Now?

Previous leaks revealed that PS6 would be available by 2027. However, a group of Redditors thought that it won't happen anytime soon.

According to a report by Tech Times, the launch window of a Sony's console usually lasts for at least 6 years. In short, the PS6 will likely be launched between 2028 and 2030.

It's also understandable why the PS5 might only exist for a shorter time. With the emergence of COVID-19 in 2020, the production and the shipment of the consoles across the globe have been affected, not to mention the Ukraine-Russia war which also impacted the transport of electronics in different regions.
