Microsoft's case with the United Kingdom's Competition and Market Authority (CMA) is finally hearing its side, but one of the most noticeable things here is its mention of Sony's development of a "Superman" game. However, it may only be a typographical error, referring to an AAA-rated development of PlayStation of the famous exclusive franchise "Spider-Man."

It is known that Sony and PlayStation partnered with Insomniac Games to deliver the solo story of the famous Marvel webhead, Spider-Man, focusing on both iterations of the character already.

In a new document from Microsoft submitted to the CMA, Sony is developing a new exclusive game with Warner Bros. centering on the Man of Steel from DC Comics, Superman. The company further reiterated that exclusive franchises would not hurt the competition as much as Sony was claiming against Microsoft and Activision Blizzard.

"This applies for "big" titles like God of War or Superman. There has never been evidence that exclusivity of one single franchise can drive console sales."

According to ComicBook Gaming, Sony and Warner Bros. previously worked together to deliver games that were successful in the past, but this may not indicate the said "Superman" game.

Microsoft may Only have a Typo on 'Spider-Man'

Additionally, the report considers this mention as a typo or error in Microsoft's legal team, as ComicBook said that its lawyers may be referring to the Marvel superhero, "Spider-Man," a franchise that has been with Sony for a long time.

It is worth noting that Insomniac Games and PlayStation developed the famous "Spider-Man" franchise which has been successful in the market, with an upcoming "Marvel's Spider-Man 2" soon.

Microsoft and Activision Blizzard Acquisition

Microsoft has fought against regulators to defend its purchase and acquisition of Activision Blizzard and its entirety, including all of the games that would transfer over to them soon. It initially faced a block from the Federal Trade Commission with regards to its deal, with the company allegedly violating the antitrust in this purchase.

Sony is among the companies who appealed against this merger, especially as it is an exclusive partner of Activision Blizzard in the present to bring "Call of Duty" games to consoles.

The UK watchdog, CMA, also regarded that this deal may "harm" gamers, as there would be a need to transfer from one console to another in the future. However, Microsoft also defended this, saying that it would not make "COD" exclusive to Xbox only, and would still be available to the PlayStation.

The companies' recent fiasco in the United Kingdom saw a new appeal to the authorities, with Microsoft's recent claims of not eliminating the competition in the industry. Still, the mention of a "Superman" game may point greatly to a typo, but it may also be a leak from the software company on Sony's development of a new superhero game.
