Huawei's newest smartwatch, the Watch Ultimate, is perhaps one of the most functionally and aesthetically close alternatives to the Apple Watch Ultra. But it does not resemble the Apple Watch at all, thanks to its diver-style case design similar to that of previous Huawei watches like the Watch GT 3 Pro.

Designed for Diving

According to Forbes, the Huawei Watch Ultimate's ability to function as a dive watch is its main selling feature. ISO 22810 (water resistance) and EN13319 (diving equipment) certifications verify the gadget's suitability for use by divers at depths of up to 100 meters. Huawei claims that the gadget can survive being submerged in water up to 110 meters deep for 24 hours.

While it boasts normal water resistance of 100 meters, the Apple Watch Ultra is approved for use down to a depth of 40 meters.

The Huawei Ultimate Watch also has diving-related apps. It contains a depth gauge and will sound an alarm if you are climbing too quickly. The CNS, NDL, and PO2 values will all be calculated. However, unlike the Garmin Descent Mk2, the Huawei Watch Ultimate cannot link to air tanks to show tank pressure and remaining air time.

There are four different diving modes available, including scuba, technical scuba, free diving, and a gauge. The Watch Ultimate furthermore has an Expedition mode that records your travels so you can easily return to certain locations.

Beyond its exceptional build quality and dive-ready capabilities, the Huawei Watch Ultimate will function similarly to the Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro.

The OLED display is sharp and bright, reaching up to 1000 nits, and the battery life lasts for up to two weeks on a single charge.

Variety and Cost

The Huawei Watch Ultimate comes in two versions in different color options: Voyage Blue and Expedition Black. Their capabilities are comparable, but their bezel designs are unique. Although PhoneArena said, the blue one may remind you of the Omega Seamaster, which is an icon in its own right.

Each watch face comes with a unique strap option. The more premium Voyage Blue comes with a titanium alloy band, and the Expedition Black comes with Hydrogenated Nitrile Rubber (HNBR) band. Both watches come with an additional scuba-length HNBR strap. Both watches include an additional scuba-length HNBR strap.

Reportedly, Huawei states that the watch's "zirconium-based liquid metal material case" is 2.5 times more rigid than stainless steel, and both models have a ceramic bezel.

Available in the UK and Europe on Apr. 3 via the Huawei Store and select retailers, the price is yet to be announced. Notably, Huawei Watch Ultimate is the company's most advanced smartwatch to date.
