Google: Bard AI is NOT Trained on OpenAI's ChatGPT Data

As per a recent news story by The Verge, Google denied bold accusations, which claims that the tech giant trained its Bard AI using the ChatGPT data of OpenAI.

Instead, the search engine behemoth says that its AI-powered tool did not use the data of its rival chatbot.

The spokesperson of Google denied the allegation of using ChatGPT data in a statement to The Verge.

Chris Pappas, Google's spokesperson, states that "Bard is not trained on any data from ShareGPT or ChatGPT." He clearly dismissed previous accusations regarding the training of its AI tool.

Report Alleges Google Using ChatGPT Data for Bard

According to a report by The Information, the new AI tool of Google, Bard, allegedly used the data of the highly popular ChatGPT of OpenAI. To do so, the tech giant reportedly used ShareGPT to scrape the data of the latter.

The report further sheds light on why a former Google AI engineer left the search engine giant. Jacob Devlin reportedly bid farewell to Google in favor of OpenAI after he previously warned his previous employer against using the data of ChatGPT for Bard.

He allegedly told the folks at Google that doing so would end up violating the terms of service of OpenAI. Not to mention that doing so would also showcase similarities in the responses of Bard and ChatGPT.

One of the sources of The Information reportedly says that Google has ceased using the data of ChatGPT after its former engineers warned against it.

The tech giant assures that Bard is not trained by any ChatGPT data. But it is unclear if Google once attempted to use the data of OpenAI.

Shash Gear reports that one of the biggest differences between Bard and ChatGPT is their knowledge. The Google-owned tool uses the search engine to gather information, covering current events. ChatGPT, on the other hand, currently has a 2021 cutoff.

The two AI tools are pretty similar too. Both are still in beta testing and could pretty much end up saying the wrong responses.
