What did Flipboard add in the latest Mastodon integration?

It was in February 2023 when Flipboard hinted about its plans on bringing improvements on Mastodon. The social app used to be on Twitter's side, but it seems the odds are already in favor of the less popular networking site.

The Android integration is not originally in the plan since the features are designed for iOS yet we are seeing a miracle this time.

PRNews Wire shares the new features that every Mastodon and Flipboard user should enjoy doing.

From Flipboard, you can now follow your friends on Mastodon. It's a smooth-sailing upgrade for content and feed discovery on the platform.

Mastodon users can see the most recent posts on Flipboard's "For You" feed. This way, you won't skip an update or two especially if you are waiting for a post from a friend or any important person in your life.

Mentions and bookmarks are now accessible within Flipboard. The list of followed items is also visible following the recent Android integration.

"We're big believers in the innovation and growth coming from the Fediverse. As more apps and platforms embrace federated social networks like Mastodon, this ecosystem will increasingly become a viable alternative to today's 'walled garden' social media networks," Flipboard co-founder and CEO Mike McCue said.

He added that the integration gave users a "glimpse" about the importance of the ActivityPub protocol in networking in Fediverse.

More Twitter Users Are Exploring Mastodon

A February report from Tech Times revealed that only 0.2% of the US residents were Twitter Blue subscribers in January 2023.

After the controversial acquisition of Twitter courtesy of Elon Musk, the microblogging site became flooded with anomalies and unexpected competitions.

As such, the same report said that more Twitter client developers were moving to Mastodon in search of something new.

While Mastodon is considered to be a good Twitter alternative, it does not mean that it can already surpass the latter when it comes to user base.

As of January 31, 2023, the number of active Mastodon users dropped from 1.8 million to 1.4 million.
