One of the most positive aspects of the recent Google Drive redesign, Material You, is the ability to search for relevant files quickly. With the latest update to drive, users can now access search chips that make searching for files even easier.

Searching for Specific Files Made Easier with Google Drive Search Chips

The search chips allow users to filter by file type, owner, and last modified date regardless of where they are in the Google Drive web app. This new search capability was previously offered in the Google Drive search menu. However, it is now available throughout the entire Drive platform.

According to the story by 9to5Google, searching for specific files in Google Drive can be incredibly time-consuming, especially if users can't remember the exact filename. Fortunately, making it easier to find the content they are looking for is now at the forefront.

Improved Filtering Options to Help Streamline Search Results in Google Drive

With the latest addition to the Material You redesign, users now have the ability to filter by file type, owner, and last modified date whenever they are using the Google Drive web app. Easy access to these filters will help save their time.

As a result, users will be able to navigate the file directory faster to find the content they are after. With the expanded filter options now available in Google Drive, users can narrow their search to the most relevant files in any view, making it simpler to locate the information they need quickly.

Enhanced User Experience: Introducing Multi-select Toolbar and More

Other features added to the Material You redesign are meant to make things easier. For example, as detailed in Google's blog, users can hover over a file and reveal shortcuts for sharing, downloading, renaming, and favoriting.

There is also a multi-select toolbar that allows users to take bulk actions. The new filters are available for all Google Workspace and legacy G Suite Basic and Business customers. An earlier article by Gizmo China shared how the Material You UI was coming for Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides.

Rollout of Multi-Select Toolbar and Search Chips to Help Users Maximize Productivity

They will also be available to users who have a personal Google Account. It's important to note that the rollout began on the same day, but it may take a few more weeks for the filters to be fully available.

The new search filters have been strategically designed to save users time. With the ability to filter by file type, owner, or last modified date, users can quickly pinpoint the files they need within the vast directory of Google Drive. So if they have ever spent too much time sifting through countless files, the Material You redesign has them covered.

Drive app users have access to a multi-select toolbar which can also take multiple bulk actions at once. The search chips are a great addition to the Material You redesign of Google Drive, allowing users to maximize their productivity and save time while finding the needed files.
