Kahun, an evidence-based clinical reasoning tool for physicians, integrates ChatGPT to build on the advanced Large Language Model's (LLM) ability to engage in human-like conversation with patients, bridging the gap between medical jargon and the everyday language of patients. Kahun's clinical-reasoning engine references the text input from patients against its proprietary map of peer-reviewed medical literature to produce gold-standard clinical assessments for physicians.

ChatGPT's ability to converse with humans competently and in fluent prose represents a major stride for generative AI that will have ripple effects across industries, including healthcare. As a Natural Language Processing (NLP model), however, ChatGPT produces its output based on words and the context surrounding those words, rather than by referencing back to the relevant medical literature. Even if the model is trained using some of the same medical sources as Kahun, it isn't trained to "think" about them clinically.

In integrating ChatGPT, Kahun's clinical reasoning engine fuses the model's breakthrough communication abilities, enhancing its gold-standard clinical assessment tool with human-like communication skills to the benefit of physicians and patients. Kahun leverages ChatGPT to generate notes and summary letters for physicians, and even to offer a free text interaction with patients that understands even slang and local vernacular.

Kahun provides medical professionals pre-visit structured clinical insights and summaries referenced back to the original source in the medical literature, covering the patient's medical presentation and leaving more time to focus on the physical examination and the treatment plan during visits. Using XAI (explainable AI), which is more transparent compared to other AI models, Kahun helps healthcare professionals make better informed decisions based on reasoning they can understand and trust.

"LLM-based solutions will transform many industries, and we see ChatGPT as a strong addition to our core offering to both patients and providers," says Eitan Ron, CEO and Co-Founder of Kahun. "In integrating ChatGPT, we're really tapping into the best of both worlds by merging our clinical-reasoning machine with an LLM that can interact with patients and physicians with never-before-seen fluency."
