No New Android Update for Verizon Pixel 6, 6 Pro, and 6a Models for Second Month in a Row

According to the story by Phone Arena, Verizon Pixel 6, 6 Pro, and 6a models were disappointed. For the second month in a row, the anticipated monthly update was not released to any eligible Pixel models by the expected date of April 3.

This delay has caused much distress, as updates such as these are essential in providing owners with the latest security patches and bug fixes. Some have attributed the lack of updates to the Google Tensor and Tensor 2 chips that power the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 models, respectively.

Resolving Issues of Overheating and Late Updates with the Verizon Pixel 6 Series

Furthermore, this issue is quite familiar to users of the Pixel 6 and 7 series who use T-Mobile, as it wasn't until the release of the February update that these customers received the monthly update for their devices.

The problem resided with improvements to T-Mobile's 5G network related to carrier aggregation to create more bandwidth for greater capacity and faster data speeds.

Last September, however, Verizon Pixel 6 device owners were met with similar distress when their monthly update was 28 days late; this was to fix an issue that caused the phone to overheat.

Time for Google to Step Up and Guarantee Timely Updates

Amidst all of this, there is one positive tidbit of news. A Redditor stated that they were informed by tech support at Verizon that the April update for customers' Pixel 6, Pixels 6 Pro, and Pixel 6a devices with be released on Thursday, April 27th.

If users have a Pixel 6 model running on Verizon, head to the settings menu and check on the System Update page on Thursday to see if users have a waiting update to install. This timeline of events brings to light the need for Google to improve or create better patches for their device updates or ensure their release dates are met.

Customers shouldn't have to worry about delayed updates due to known issues or the tech specs of a phone. It's time for Google to step up its game and guarantee device owners get their monthly updates in a timely manner.
