On Tuesday, May 2, the Messenger app also had another issue. The outage during that day prevented users from accessing their accounts.

Now, another bug has appeared, causing the Messenger history to disappear. The latest in-app glitch started on Thursday, May 4.

Based on the complaints shared by users on Facebook and Twitter, the most affected ones are located in the Philippines.

CNN Philippines reported that many Messenger users could no longer access their files, videos, photos, as well as saved links.

Because of this, the topic of Facebook Messenger is trending on Twitter as of press time. It has already garnered over 4,300 tweets; this number is still increasing.

Although the history of the Messenger app on their ends vanished, they can still chat and share content via DMs and GCs.

Aside from this, photos and other shared content can still be accessed. But you need to backread them manually just to see them.

Are U.S.-Based Messenger Users Affected?

According to DownDetector, some U.S.-based users are affected by the newest Facebook Messenger glitch as well. 

However, unlike in the Philippines, they didn't reach hundreds. Americans who are experiencing the in-app issue are mostly located in the following cities: 

  • Toronto
  • Boston
  • New York
  • San Franciso
  • Los Angeles
  • Phoenix

The majority of the affected American users (45% of them) are having issues with the Messenger app. 

Meanwhile, 38% of them can't access their DM and GC history. The remaining 17% are having issues sending messages. 

As of writing, Meta hasn't announced if it is already working on a fix to solve the Messenger glitch. If you are affected, the best thing you can do is wait for the company's further announcements.
