Google I/O 2023: Pixel Fold Debuts, Features Thinnest Body and Biggest Battery Among the Competition

Google took the I/O 2023 event to a whole new level as it officially unveiled a highly-rumored smartphone from the company, which is the Google Pixel Fold. For the longest time now, leaks and speculations flooded the internet for the company's next Pixel device, one that would allow users to experience an expandable screen that they could stow in a smaller state.

Google Pixel Fold is Here and it Boasts Top Specs

The tech giant unveiled its latest innovation, the highly anticipated Pixel Fold, a cutting-edge foldable device that is set to redefine the smartphone experience.

The internet company surely packed it with impressive features and a sleek design, centering on the thinnest body on a foldable with only 5.8 mm thickness for when the device is unfolded. It bodes well against the Galaxy Z Fold 4 with 6.3-mm-thickness and the Oppo Find N2, which measures 7.4 mm.

Still, this is the thinnest foldable in the US, but for the international market, Huawei offers a thinner 5.3 mm device with the Mate X3.

Moreover, it delivers a 4,821 mAh battery with 30W wired fast charging that says it can last up to 24 hours, the largest among the competition as well, with the Galaxy Z Fold 4 only offering 4,400 mAh, and the Oppo Find N2 at 4,520 mAh.

It delivers a compact 5.8-inch screen when folded, but when unfolded, the Pixel Fold transforms into a significant 7.6-inch display. Google also promises that its hinge is the most durable in the market, also offering 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of Storage, packing in the latest Tensor G2 processor to power the device.

Pixel Fold Preorder: Google Has a Treat for All

The Pixel Fold is now available for pre-order, and its price has been set at $1,799. To sweeten the deal, Google is offering a free Pixel Watch (priced at $349 for either the WiFi or WiFi LTE version) with every pre-order purchase through the Google Store only.

Google's Dance with the Foldables

For a long time now, speculators and leakers have claimed that Google is looking to deliver a folding version of the Pixel to the world, and this is the company's first dance with the foldable smartphone industry.

It was originally speculated for 2022, but as Google missed this window, there were claims that it is coming this year. Before the I/O 2023 event, Google announced the device earlier but did not reveal any more information about it before the showcase.
