But will Canadian consumers actually buy these made-in-China electric cars?

Previously, the giant EV maker said that it plans to export its China-manufactured EVs to the United States and Canada.

Now, the automaker finally completed its first EV shipment from its Giga Shanghai factory to North America.

As part of its effort, the EV manufacturer said that it would offer discounted EVs in Canada.

This detail was seen in the official Tesla Canada models. Models included are specifically the rear-wheel drive Model Y, as well as the long-range all-wheel drive Model 3 units.

These Tesla EV models are available for immediate delivery in British Columbia.

Giz China reported that both the included Model Y and Model 3 units are eligible for a federal government subsidy of around $3,700 (5,000 CAD).

As of writing, Tesla hasn't confirmed the total number of China-made EVs available for sale in Canada.

How Much Can Canadian Tesla Buyers Save?

China-made Tesla Model Y is far cheaper compared to the EV units manufactured in the U.S.

A U.S.-made Tesla Model Y costs around $46,000 (61,990 CAD), which is 22% more expensive than the price of China-made EV models.

However, one of the major concerns of U.S.-based consumers is the quality of made-in-China Tesla cars.

As of press time, the safety standards and quality control of these China-manufactured Tesla EVs are still unknown.

Consumers and critics are still waiting for the official statement of the automaker regarding the quality of its China-made Tesla units.
