A new era may soon be dawning for Samsung's next-generation foldable smartphones in the market, as leaks revealed a possible dust-resistance feature for its upcoming releases.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 will reportedly be better than their predecessors by combining both dust and water resistance to the smartphones, a feat never achieved before. Other foldable smartphone manufacturers have featured a dust and water resistance rating, but only with the latest Motorola Razr+ and Razr 40 Ultra devices.

Samsung Leaks: Dust-Resistance Coming to Fold 5, Flip 5

Twitter user @chunvn888 claimed that the tech giant plans to incorporate dust resistance into its highly anticipated upcoming foldable smartphones - the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5. If the leaks prove accurate, this addition will significantly advance the next generation of Samsung's foldable devices, offering users enhanced durability and protection against dust particles.

According to 9to5 Google, Samsung's Fold 4 and Flip 4 models are equipped with IPX8 water resistance, providing users with peace of mind when it comes to accidental water splashes. However, the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 are expected to take the durability of foldable smartphones to a new level by featuring IP58 dust resistance.

The rumored IP58 dust resistance suggests that the devices will be effectively sealed against dust particles, preventing them from entering the internals and potentially causing damage. While the exact details of the dust resistance implementation are yet to be confirmed, this leak indicates that Samsung is committed to refining the reliability and longevity of its foldable smartphones.

Samsung Fold 5 and Flip 5 are Both Water and Dust Resistant

With this new leak, the upcoming releases from Samsung would be water- and dust-resistant simultaneously for the first time since its release. Several days ago, this was the feature brought in by Motorola's latest announcement of the Razr+ and Razr 40 Ultra devices, featuring IP52 dust and water resistance to the devices.

Should this leak be accurate, Samsung will have a higher rating than Motorola, making it a more durable and protected folding smartphone series than the earlier released.

Samsung's Foldable Smartphones

No official details are here yet for the upcoming foldable devices from Samsung, but leaks are fast to bring the latest information to what the South Korean company has to offer. One is the Flip 5, which will feature a larger rear screen like its competitors offer.

While the leak suggests that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 will incorporate dust resistance, it is important to note that official details and specifications are yet to be officially confirmed by Samsung.

As Samsung continues to refine its foldable devices, adding dust resistance could be a game-changer, attracting consumers who prioritize longevity and reliability in their smartphone choices.  While dust resistance may seem like a small addition, it holds substantial value for consumers who frequently find themselves in environments prone to dust accumulation, such as construction sites or outdoor activities.

With the rumored IP58 dust resistance, users can rest assured that their Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 devices will be well-protected against the challenges posed by dust particles.
