Nintendo has a reputation for developing endearing characters that have captivated players for decades. These characters have become famous gaming icons, from the valiant Mario to the naughty Bowser.

We are not sure where people can use this information aside for some fun trivia nights, but Nintendo recently shed some light on the age of one of its most infamous villains: Bowser, the King of the Koopas.

How Old Is Bowser?

In a recent how-to video uploaded (now private) to their official YouTube account, Nintendo provided a step-by-step guide on creating a Nintendo account.

However, SYFY tells us that a delightful Easter egg was hidden amidst the seemingly ordinary demonstration.

When entering the date of birth for the account, Nintendo used the name "Bowser" as the user, giving the impression that it was Bowser himself creating the account.

According to this video, Bowser's official, and perhaps even canonical, birthday is February 5, 1989, making him a mere 34.

This revelation surprises many fans who have been playing Super Mario Bros. since its release in 1985. Those who vividly recall facing off against a fully grown Bowser in the game might find it peculiar that he is portrayed as younger than expected.

It is worth noting that Bowser Jr., Bowser's son, also made an appearance in the video. His birthdate was set to March 3, 2011, making him a sprightly 13 years old, despite his debut in 2002.

Feel So Old Yet?

IGN notes that while Bowser has terrorized Mario and his friends in the Mushroom Kingdom for nearly 40 years, the mighty turtle dragon is still in his early thirties.

This revelation adds an unexpected twist to the long-standing rivalry between Mario and Bowser, as it paints a picture of a youthful antagonist.

It is interesting to think that Bowser's menacing actions and attempts to kidnap Princess Peach are the mischievous deeds of a character in the prime of his life (Care for some Mario-Peach-Bowser love triangle lore?).

Nintendo's decision to reveal Bowser's age through a seemingly unrelated video shows the company's playful and humorous approach to engaging with its fan base.

The fact that the video was unlisted adds to the excitement and sense of discovery surrounding this newfound information.

More Surprising Revelations

Moreover, Bowser Jr.'s age revelation has brought a whole new level of hilarity to the mix.

As the presumed heir to the Koopa throne, seeing Bowser Jr. as a teenager, with all the associated changes and challenges, is amusing and unexpected.

It is almost as if time has played a different role in the Mushroom Kingdom, allowing Bowser Jr. to skip over the typical stages of growth and land directly in adolescence.

For those curious about the ages of other iconic characters in the Super Mario Bros. franchise, Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of Mario, revealed in a 2005 interview that Mario and Luigi are twins and are somewhere between 24 and 25 years old.

This information provides further context to the dynamic between the Mario brothers, showcasing their shared journey through the whimsical world of the Mushroom Kingdom.
