Tesla has hiked up the price of its home charging station, allowing owners to gain range from the comfort of their garages. Despite the price increase, the Tesla Wall Connector remains one of the cheapest stations for the specs.

With 45,000+ Superchargers, Tesla owns and operates the largest global fast charging network in the world. Superchargers can recharge up to 200 miles of range in just 15 minutes.

Increasing Price for Tesla Wall Connector

After Tesla announced last year that it is offering its EV charge connector aiming for it to be the North America Charging Standard (NACS), the company made several moves for it to gain traction in different markets. But according to a report from Electrek, Tesla now increased the price of its home charging station called Wall Connector.

The price was adjusted by more than 10%, making it now $650 in Canada and $475 in the United States. Before these adjustments, Tesla's Wall Connector is already considered as one of the best stations for the price at $500, with up to 11.5 kW/48 amp output.

This comes after the product has seen both price increases and decreases over the past year since the company announced its efforts as the new charging standard. Tesla quickly made it cheaper later last year as the price it to $350 in December and increased it again to $425 one month later in January.

Tesla took a while before its NACS connector got adopted by other companies. But these price adjustments may be related to its gaining momentum with several automakers, including Ford, GM, and virtually all charging station companies in North America who embraced the adoption of the connector.

With both Tesla's Wall Connector being the best value in the market and its NACS slowly becoming the standard, this comes as good news for the company but a bad sign for those manufacturers who would have to compete with its own offering.

Tesla's Home Charging Station

Teslarati reported that the Wall Connector is ideal for a variety of places in some scenarios, giving the home charging station an edge over other offerings in the market. EV owners will have the advantage over gas engine drivers as it will supply them with up to 44 miles of range per hour and avoid "range anxiety."

The Wall Connector was launched by the company in January 2020 with the third generation edition, featuring a white glass faceplate. Through this design, the charging stations provide a clean and compact look for owners that fit nearly any design style both indoors and outdoors of a household.

But aside from its design, it also features several capabilities that can be looked at as advantageous for owners, including Wi-Fi connectivity for updates, remote diagnostics, access controls, scheduled changing via the Tesla app, and a 24-foot cable.

Earlier this month, Tesla Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk and GM Chief Executive Officer Marry Barra announced the companies' partnership in using NACS charging ports in their vehicles. This aims to bring more EV power stations to use, specifically Superchargers available to the public.

Meanwhile, Reuters reported that Stellantis is still continuing to evaluate the company's charging standard after the announcement of Ford and GM's adoption. As per the released statement, "Our focus is to provide the customer the best charging experience possible."
