Back when Twitter was still under its old CEO and a publicly-traded company, the Fleets feature was already removed due to the number of users not interacting with it. Now, with Elon Musk as the owner and him being known for his active Twitter presence, users may bring their concerns to him for raising it better to the top, including the potential return of the Fleets.

A verified account, who also made the Twitter owner follow and subscribe to him, has tweeted about the public's demands for the Fleets feature to return, something which many have allegedly asked from the company for a long time now. This comes as a significant protest to Twitter, especially as it is a feature that was canceled almost one and a half years from now since it first shut down.

Daniel said that the people are no longer asking for its return, rather, the people want the Fleets to return on Twitter.

It is understandable how some people would feel this way, especially those who are long-time Twitter fans and users who have grown adept at the short-word social media being their main platform to use.

Additionally, having the Fleets on Twitter means they do not need to venture to other apps just to utilize the said feature, and have Twitter as their one-stop-shop for all social media needs.

The Fleets were shut down in around August 2021 by its then management, with Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey who was still its CEO.

Elon Musk's Response to Fleets' Return

Twitter owner and executive, Elon Musk, has taken notice of the said tweet and responded accordingly to what the user has to say. However, in Musk's reply, he only said "Noted," which could mean a lot and not necessarily mean that the Twitter Fleets is coming back.

Still, this is a good indication that Twitter may consider the Fleets' return to the social media sometime soon, but not necessarily their main priority as of now.

A Twitter designer named Andrea Conway also replied to the tweet from Daniel stating that she "wanna give the people what they want."

Twitter and its Fleets from Before

When Twitter introduced the Fleets, it may not be something special as this came during a time when other apps are doing it as well.

Additionally, others went ahead and introduced them way earlier than Twitter, with Snapchat and Meta having it long ago.

Of course, being it a new feature on Twitter, the Fleets faced bugs for not disappearing after 24 hours since the user posted it on their profiles, a breach in the main feature of the media.

Low usage plagued the Fleets for its continued operations and this was because the market was already saturated with trusted and known apps that already offer the feature.

Still, some grew fond of this feature and are now asking for the Fleets' return-with Elon Musk noticing the tweet and replying to it, there is a great chance that this may be taken up for future developments and its revamp.
