Apple might be testing out some framework to transform a typical AirPods Pro into a hearing aid. The health-centered feature could come to the future version of wireless earbuds.

From AirPods to Hearing Aids? New Report Says Apple Could Make This Dream Come True
(Photo: Nick Stafford from Pixabay ) A recent report says that the future iteration of Apple's AirPods Pro can test the user's hearing health.

Apple is rumored to be working on exciting updates for its popular wireless earbuds, AirPods.

According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman via Mashable, these potential enhancements include innovative health monitoring capabilities, a switch from Lightning to a USB-C port, and integration with Apple's AR headset, the Vision Pro. Let's delve into the details of these anticipated features.

One of the rumored advancements is the addition of a hearing health testing feature. Similar to the Apple Watch's ECG functionality, this feature would assess the wearer's auditory well-being by playing various tones and sounds.

While third-party apps like Mimi already offer comparable hearing tests, Apple aims to provide a seamless, integrated experience for AirPods users.

Aside from that, the tech titan is reportedly exploring the integration of body temperature measurement capabilities into the AirPods.

Although the latest Apple Watch models can already measure body temperature, the accuracy of data collected via the AirPods Pro could potentially surpass that of the smartwatch. By monitoring the temperature in the ear canal, Apple seeks to provide users with a more precise and convenient health monitoring solution.

USB-C Port Adoption on AirPods Pro

In response to growing demands for standardization and enhanced compatibility, Apple may replace the Lightning port on the AirPods' charging case with the widely used USB-C port.

The Cupertino giant could have prepared for the change since the upcoming iPhone 15 models are expected to feature a USB-C port. As part of a healthy protocol to maintain its system, Apple would bring this to provide a seamless experience to all users.

While it's interesting how the USB-C port adoption will fare well for almost all Apple devices, some reviews on the internet suggest that having no USB-C port on AirPods Pro could put it at a big disadvantage over its competitors.

Speaking of which, Macrumors reported that the USB-C AirPods Pro case could likely launch along with the upcoming handsets.

AirPods Pro's Synergy With Apple's AR Headset

The AirPods are poised to play a significant role in conjunction with Apple's recently launched AR headset, the Vision Pro.

While the AR headset boasts built-in speakers, Apple aims to provide users with a more immersive and private audio experience by enabling seamless pairing with AirPods Pro. This integration would enhance the overall AR experience, offering users a heightened sense of realism and immersion.

While specific timelines for these potential features remain undisclosed, Apple refreshed the AirPods Pro in 2022, indicating a possible three-year upgrade cycle.

It's important to note that these plans are subject to change, as Apple continually refines and adjusts its products before making official announcements.

Meanwhile, Tech Times reported that Apple is rumored to be developing a feature that could transform a Mac monitor into a smart display through an iOS device chip.
