Rumors are now centering on a new Mac monitor that is reportedly under development from Apple, which aims to bring a new display for the computer but looks to develop more than that.

First, apart from being a monitor that will bring what the Macs deliver to users, it would also double as a smart home display when it is not in use or in low-power mode. The smart display would reportedly run using an iOS device chip.

Moreover, the plans indicate that this would not be the end of Apple's monitor development, expanding more of its lineup in future creations.

New Mac Monitor Is Reportedly Under Development by Apple

According to the Power On newsletter by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple is developing a new Mac monitor that would bring the display for their standalone CPUs.

Based on the report, this would be a device that would make a name for itself and not a continuation of Apple's existing smart displays in its lineup. It is a Mac monitor, but not entirely, explained the insider.

The device would bring more features to users, including providing a smart home display that would appear when idle and run on a low-power mode. Considering that Apple is part of the Matter ecosystem, this would help bring more features of the smart home collective right to one's computer.

Apple's Future Monitors and Its Added Technology

According to 9to5 Mac, Gurman believes that this is not the only development from Apple, as it is also looking to bring a separate tech that would bring a successor for the Apple Studio and Apple Pro Display XDR.

Regarding the new Mac monitor with a smart home display, 9to5 Mac also reported that it might be similar to what the iPhone's iOS 17 would bring for the same feature introduced in WWDC 2023.

What Monitors Does Apple Offer Now?

There are currently two new monitors on Apple's lineup now. One is the Apple Pro Display XDR, the significantly expensive computer monitor meant to bring 6K features on a 32-inch screen.

Despite its high price and smaller community to cater to, Apple still looks into developing more of the Pro Display XDR and its future iterations. Its second take on monitor development brought the Apple Studio Display to life, and it is the more affordable but not-so-cheap 27-inch computer screen.

It features a 5K quality display, equipped with Thunderbolt interfaces for all Mac needs, and is the latest display tech from Apple, which was only released in late 2022.

Apple may seem to be lagging behind monitor developments. However, the good thing is that the company is trying to give users an "all Apple" experience, especially for their Mac lineup, which is only CPUs.

More is coming from Apple, according to Gurman, and it is expected to come soon to bring additional features for the Mac and smart home needs, with a future lineup also dropping soon.
