Twitter Business explained that the company decided to unveil the significant changes in the platform's rate limiting after it applied its tweet limits. While this significantly affected its usage and surprised users with the changes, Twitter said that it was for privacy reasons on its platform.

The social media company further explained that the reason behind this is to catch the bad actors once and for all, soon to improve the Twitter experience for all.

"That's why we temporarily limited usage so we could detect and eliminate bots and other bad actors that are harming the platform. Any advance notice on these actions would have allowed bad actors to alter their behavior to evade detection."
