Regarding this ongoing issue, the Genshin Impact team prepared and shared a response yesterday to media inquiries:

"We truly regret to learn about the ongoing situation. Genshin Impact values and respects the work and effort of everyone involved, and we support our voice actors to claim their proper due. We have made payments to our recording studio on time, and we have immediately urged the studio to pay our voice actors. Meanwhile, we are also seeking alternative solutions. We will keep everyone posted on further developments."

The hit 2020 game, Genshin Impact, is now facing controversy for not paying its voice actors on the right time and dates, causing some to miss out on rent payments and other necessities. Now, these artists want to unionize against Genshin's creator, miHoYo, to get what is due for their efforts and works in voicing the massive game.

For years now, Genshin Impact has taken its place as one of the most popular modern RPGs in the world, known for making millions of dollars per month.

Voice Actors for Genshin Impact have shared their frustration against the company which has been late on handing out their payments, despite already having the work done for the game. Brandon Winckler and Corina Boettger have both voiced their sentiments regarding this incident, especially as it has caused significant adversities on their end.

Winckler, known for voicing various minor characters in the game, has claimed that he has sent five emails to miHoYo but has not received any response from the game developing company. He claimed that some voice artists have not received more than four months of pay from the company.

The frustrated voice actor claimed that this has affected his meals already, and in his case, he has been struggling with the late payments for 4 to 8 months on end.

Boettger, known for voicing Paimon, said that the months late payment has caused her to miss out on rent payments already.

Voice Artists from Genshin Wants to Unionize

These artists are now fighting for themselves and the cause, and are looking to unionize that would help voice out their frustrations, struggles, and needs to ensure that no such incident would happen the next time.

Winckler said that Genshin Impact should be under a union production, going as far as to say that he would not work on the game for the time being should there be no union contracts.

Unionization and Employee Care

Unfair practices in businesses have long been an issue for different laborers in almost all industries in the world, with the technology industry being one of the most notorious. Different companies have employees forming unions over unfair labor practices enforced by the management, with Amazon facing many worker coalitions in various locations.

However, it does not stop with the e-commerce company.

Many Apple retail employees are also forming unions to help protect their interests and welfare amidst working to sell the devices which the public reveres. Oklahoma and Maryland were among the first to form the said union, with Apple's St. Louis retail store following suit.

There is also Tesla, Google, and more facing unions from their employees.

While most of the unions center on technology companies, the gaming industry has also faced them on several occasions, including Activision Blizzard. Now, employees are protesting against the unfair labor practices of miHoYo, the Chinese video game developer behind Genshin Impact, significantly affecting its voice artists' well-being in the real world.
