Apple Computer Trainers, the Rare Custom-Made Sneakers Built for Employees, On Sale for $50,000

Apple fans who love sneakers can snag a pair of rare shoes by Apple. According to BBC, the shoes were custom-made for Apple employees in the 1990s and were a one-time giveaway at a conference.

World-famous auction house Sotheby's is currently selling a pair of these ultra-rare sneakers for $50,000. Yes, it is not being auctioned.

Sotheby's said: "Having never reached the general public, this particular pair of sneakers is one of the most obscure in existence and highly coveted on the resale market,"

Sotheby's Auction House Says the Apple Shoes Features White Leather Upper

Featuring a predominately white upper, Sotheby's noted that the old rainbow Apple logo could be seen on both the tongue and the side of the shoes next to the laces. The pair comes with an alternative pair of red laces.

Although the Apple shoes are "new in the box," Sotheby's said they have some imperfections, including a yellowing around the midsoles.

The now-defunct Omega Sports retailer reportedly produced the sneakers. The retailer only ended operations last April after 45 years.

Apple Sneakers Come in a US Men Size 10.5

According to Sotheby's, the Apple shoes feature an air cushioning window in the heel. The pair's sizes are US men's 10.5, UK 8.5, or European size 41.

Sotheby's told Nexstar the shoes are available for immediate purchase via the company's Buy Now marketplace. Apple memorabilia has been skyrocketing in value, especially in products like retro gadgets, which are now considered collector's items. However, not all of its items have been hits.

Other Rare Apple Products Sold in the Past

A recent successful auction regarding Apple products includes the first edition of an unopened 2007 4GB iPhone. According to CNN, this has been sold in the US for more than $190,000 at auction.

The phone's "extreme scarcity" and "limited production" reportedly made it so rare and valuable. It was also reported that while Apple is known for its gadgets, the company also tried to venture into other businesses. In the past, the company also launched an Apple collection clothing line.

Mental Floss reported that the Apple clothing line was launched in 1986, and it saw the rainbow logo and images of the Macintosh computer printed on different types of clothes. These included T-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, and polo shirts.

Apple has also previously partnered with the luxury fashion brand Hermès to make a collection of watch straps. Apple released a strap in 2020 in celebration of black history month.
