Google Search adds a new built-in feature that allows users to enable a grammar checker. This checker then gives users instant corrections which they can choose to apply or even choose not to follow should they not want to.

Google Search Now Adds a Grammar Checker but is Only Available in the English Language as of Press Time

According to 9to5Google, it was reported that the search engine comes with multiple built-in tools from its very own dictionary to its metronome as well as a multi-sided die. It was announced that the recent addition allows users to check their grammar both for their mobile and desktop devices.

Google announced that its very own grammar checker will be able to see if the user's phrase or sentence was written in the correct way grammatically or how the engine would rather correct it. As of press time, the feature is still limited to English only with no news as to whether it would be available for other languages.

How to Activate the Grammar Check Feature Through Google Search

Users only need to enter a sentence or a phrase on its Google Search engine as part of its grammar check feature. To activate the feature, users only need to type "grammar check," "check grammar," or simply "grammar checker."

It was announced that users don't always have to add the feature to the end of their query to activate the feature. However, adding the text would help guarantee that the feature would be activated every time users use Google Search.

What Users Would Do Should the Corrections Show Up on the Google Search Engine

It was noted that so far, there aren't issues with the "Grammar Check" part of the card should it show with results revealing a green checkmark. This signals that the user's text is fine and doesn't have anything that might need correction.

If there are remaining issues, Google would then rewrite the sentence as well as underline the changes it made. The tool would also reportedly correct any of the user's spelling mistakes and when users hover over the fixed version, there will be a "Copy" button that appears.

The Company Analyzes AI Systems to Improve Its Grammar Check Features

It was also noted that behind the scenes, the company is leveraging its AI systems to be able to analyze language while the company also warns that its grammar checks won't always be 100% accurate, especially when it comes to partial sentences. As per Benzinga, the grammar check tool is based on AI.

Because of this, it's better for users to avoid phrases, which is a feature that's already present in Gmail and Google Docs for years. However, placing it in the Search Engine would be a new upgrade as more users would be able to utilize the feature.

Should users discover an issue, they can easily press the "Feedback" option on the bottom-right part of the select. This is helpful since users can signal if the results aren't relevant, helpful, or if they're incorrect or offensive.
