Intel has recently just let go of multiple servers within its NUC lineup being discontinued. It was specified that five products were discontinued by the company in the span of just a month.

Multiple NUC Models Given EOL Status as Part of the Company's Decision to Withdraw from the Desktop and Laptop PC Business

According to the story by Tom's Hardware, this comes as multiple NUC models were given the end-of-life (EOL) status. This comes as part of the company's decision to withdraw from the desktop and laptop PC business by July 11.

Recently, it was announced that Intel would be discontinuing its NUC 12 Enthusiast kits as well as barebones systems through the Core i7-12700H processor as well as the particular Arc A770M graphics.

NUC P14E Laptop Element Notebook Chassis and Other Models to Go Extinct at the End of the Year or in Early 2024

The company also previously also ended its NUC P14E Laptop Element notebook chassis, which was designed to be integrated with the NUC 11 Compute Element as well as different NUC X15 Laptop Kits.

It was noted that the last product discontinuance shipment date for the particular items would be on September 8, 2023, which is why buyers should expect them to go extinct from retail reportedly toward the end of the year or at least some time early in 2024.

Intel Issued a Product Discontinuance Notice for Two Other Products

To add, Intel reportedly also issued a product discontinuance notice for two other products, its NUC 11 v7 Compute Element and the NUC 11 v5 Compute Element boards. The company will reportedly ship out the final units of the mentioned SKUs on September 29, 2023.

It was noted that Intel was offering three different categories when it came to client NUC systems,  which include consumer-focused compact PCs, high-end gaming systems, and machines with remote management capabilities for businesses and enterprises.

Intel NUCs have been Competitive Compared to Other PC Brands but Could Focus More on Lucrative Chip Manufacturing

It was also announced that although Intel's NUCs have been competitive compared to other PC brands, being able to support multiple types of desktops and laptops could still be challenging for the company.

It was then announced that Intel's main focus has become the lucrative chip manufacturing business, which was also the reason behind the company's decision to discontinue its PC business while deciding to pass the baton to its partners, including Asus.

Intel Previously OELed Different NUC Offerings

Although Intel has previously OELed many different NUC offerings in the span of just a few weeks, there were different NUC SKUs that would still remain available for a long time. It was then noted that due to the agreements with different customers, the company would be able to likely keep supplying different specialized versions of its NUCs for an extended period.

With that, the company could be readjusting its focus and efforts toward the chip business instead of focusing its resources on PCs and NUCs.
