Automobili Pininfarina has made a striking entry into the automotive landscape with the debut of its latest creation, the B95, heralded as the world's first pure-electric open-top hyper Barchetta. The unveiling took place during the Monterey Car Week this week.

The B95 encapsulates a harmonious blend of classic aesthetics and modern technology. Its flowing open-topped bodywork, adorned with intricate technical details, delivers an interpretation of a classic racer, all while being powered by electric performance.

Global Debut of Automobili Pininfarina B95

The global debut of the B95 took place at the Monterey Car Week in Northern California, where it was unveiled alongside the Battista Edizione Nino Farina hyper GT, introduced at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, and the recently revealed PURA Vision design concept.

Paolo Dellachà, the CEO of Automobili Pininfarina, commented on the significance of this launch, saying, "The introduction of the B95 is the third of three essential building blocks this summer for our brand. First, we introduced the Battista Edizione Nino Farina, an exclusive celebration of Pininfarina's racing son - also the first Formula 1 World Champion."

"The launch of the PURA Vision design concept then unlocked a new design philosophy for all future models from our brand, across a spectrum of different segments. Now, our new Barchetta shows how these design principles can be applied - with a retro-futuristic vision fusing classic motorsport themes with the latest technological innovations, materials, and processes," he added.

The B95 presents a fresh interpretation of the Barchetta body shape, characterized by a streamlined profile that incorporates technical elements.

Notable wheel arches contribute to the B95's stance, allowing the design team to create intricate connections between the arches and the body, enhancing its visual appeal.

The aerial perspective reveals the cabin's layout, defined by a loop that integrates seats, adjustable aero screens, and passenger domes, reflecting the PURA design DNA.

The B95 introduces innovation through its pioneering electronically adjustable aero screens. Taking inspiration from vintage fighter planes, these transparent polycarbonate structures feature meticulously engineered exposed aluminum supports.

Drivers can modify the screens' position for improved comfort while maintaining the vehicle's design integrity. The B95 offers customizable helmets in line with its specification, enhancing the driving experience for enthusiasts both on roads and tracks.

Inside and Outside of the Automobili Pininfarina B95

Externally, the B95 features metallic Bronzo Superga finishing, complemented by the distinct Giallo Arneis gloss section at the front and atop the driver's dome, accentuated by Black Gloss '95' lettering.

The body incorporates Black Exposed Signature Carbon, creating a 3D effect that interacts with light. Internally, the B95 achieves a balance between classic race car aesthetics and futuristic design.

The sculptural carbon-fiber dashboard, upholstered in Tan Sustainable Luxury Leather with bespoke embossing, harmonizes with the exterior lines. The seats, also draped in the same leather, provide comfort while paying homage to classic race car styling.

The B95 offers individualized features for each of the 10 units produced. Notably, laser-engraved aluminum door plates contribute to an exclusive entry experience.

Andrea Crespi, Chief Technical Officer of Automobili Pininfarina, highlighted the vehicle's innovative aspect, stating, "This patented new technology enables the pure thrill of open-top driving, yet in comfort even at the high speed that the B95 is capable of reaching."

Equipped with the same advanced powertrain as the Battista hyper GT, the B95 achieves impressive acceleration, reaching 0-60 mph in under 2 seconds, with a top speed exceeding 300 km/h.

The vehicle's power is derived from a high-capacity 120 kWh lithium-ion battery, which can be rapidly charged using DC chargers. Check out more details about this new vehicle here.
