Getting the house clean is more than just a one-person job. It takes effort to manage household chores while balancing other life priorities simultaneously. Sometimes, people settle for an untidy house to keep their sanity. Fortunately, inventions such as robot vacuums exist to help everyone effectively clean their homes. Among all the types of robot vacuums, the vacuum with automated features is the most convenient solution that literally makes the cleaning work automated than ever..

After testing tons of robot vacuums in the market, we picked out models that outperformed in aspects of performance, convenience, battery life, maintenance and budget effectiveness.  Outlined below are the top 5 best robot vacuums in 2023 we picked during our testing process:

1 Shark IQ Robot Self-Empty XL RV1001AE

Overall Score 4.5/5

The Shark IQ Robot Self-Empty XL has great value considering its price at MSRP $499 (usually there will be discounts and you can get it in half of the price) and fulfilling almost every function I need during my last 3 months' test. The home mapping is amazing and my furry friend loved to play with it.

Why We Picked It

The Shark IQ Robot vacuum features IQ Navigation, enabling it to map the entire home. With mobile app support and voice command activation, homeowners can control and monitor the activity of the device without having to be in the same room. It cleans by row, which ensures total floor cleaning. If it ever runs out of charge, it simply returns to the base and resumes when it's ready, which is quite convenient and you don't have to help it to get charged

It can also hold dirt and debris for up to 45 cleaning sessions, an estimated 30 days. It is also a self-emptying robot vacuum, which leaves enables hands-free cleaning. Equipped with a Shark powerful suction, it can collect debris of all sizes, including pet hair. Its brushes are dual edge and located at its corners, which ensures no hair warp and complete cleaning of floor surfaces, especially with multi-stage filtration. I used it to pick up the loving hair from my two cats and it went quite well.

Pros & Cons

Pros: scheduling, easy to set up, very good price label

Cons: loud when self-emptying, lack of individual room cleaning, below average performance on carpeted floors, inadequate mapping

Who Is It For

With a very good price tag and higher than average performance for cleaning and maintenance, this model is quite fit for those who would like to change directly from broom and dustpan into smart appliance. Although it lacks functions like mopping, or some software updates, it is still a good option when you enter into the robot vacuum world.

2  iRobot Roomba j7+

Overall Score - 4.4/5

The iRobot Roomba j7+ is most exciting in moving from different floor surfaces - I had hardwood and carpets - persian rag, or runners, and it did perform good for all those surfaces. With decent suction and mediocre mopping, this model is overall a highly rated one from the team.

Why We Picked It

It is more convenient when you have different floor types you need to clean and you are the one who is bothered to reschedule it each time. I had the Roomba j7+ running with vacuum first for all floors and it worked quite well even on the bath mat. There were no issues during the testing period. So it really impressed me since this is the only model that worked without any issues for all types of the surfaces.

The PrecisionVision Navigation works well and it does offer higher smart features than the Shark one. The mapping is also great when I first try to map and it went on quite smoothly. I left some fake dog poop and my shoes, it avoided those perfectly. There's a light on it so working at night is fine.

This robot vacuum also doubles as a mop, enabling it to multi-task for a shorter cleaning time. Overall, it's comprehensive in its features to ensure an efficient cleaning of house floors. It also has a user-friendly companion app and voice command support for easier control and monitoring.

Pros & Cons

Pros: solid pet waste detection, Dirt Detect technology, advanced object recognition

Cons: Costly maintenance, weak suction for pet hair, not easy to move around

Who Is It For

The Roomba j7+ is the ideal choice for pet owners. Not all robot vacuums can detect pet waste, which leaves an even bigger mess for homeowners to clean up after. As long as it's solid, this robot vacuum can recognize and avoid cat or dog waste. It's also the only appliance that can inform users of the objects it detects during clean up. Also if your house is with multiple floor types or fancy carpets, this is a good solution as well.

3 yeedi cube

Overall Score - 4.3/5

The  yeedi cube is the latest self-emptying/washing/drying robot vacuum and mop from yeedi. The outstanding mopping feature makes it great for hardwood floors. It is quite convenient with its automotive ability, user-friendly functional design and also good price. Unlike Roomba, it is easy to pick up and move.

.

Why We Picked It

The yeedi cube is one of the most advanced models in the market during the test - with vacuum and mop combo and self empty, washing and also hot air drying. When I tested, it was really a hands-free experience because you don't need to clean your mopping pad manually. The self-washing is 10N, and when the machine was washing, it squeezed out dirty water from all the collected stains and messy liquids in its powerful scrubbing. All dirty water was separated from the map, leaving no secondary pollution in its self-washing process. Adding the hot air drying, the whole cleaning process left no messy steps like other models.

Honestly this model was the best love of my family because of its compact design. Unlike those bulky ones or heavy ones, this is not really like an appliance and my daughter simply called this an art piece - for its minimalist design.

The self-empty actually happened within 10 seconds and I did not even notice it. Same as the Roomba, it can also detect the carpet and also auto change working mode when recognizing differences. But the moving of this model was so much easier than the Roomba j7+ - the so-called "Pick and Place" with a handle on its surface for carrying the machine.

This unit performed well for the strong stains as well - My kid left overnight ketchup stain in the kitchen, and yeedi cube cleaned it without too much effort. Firstly it spilled a large amount of water to moisturize the spot and mopping, then it had a second round with smaller water spill to finalize the process, which is quite unique.

Pros & Cons

Pros: Efficient quick spot cleans, easy to carry, self-washing and self-drying abilities, mop auto-lift, floating structure, high vacuum power, large water capacity, easy to set up and use

Cons: The unit is relatively thick because they have to put priority on the 1L UFO water tank.

Who Is It For

The yeedi cube is for homes with different kinds of floor type. Homeowners can rely on its floating structure to deeply clean even their carpeted floors. With its self-cleaning ability and other smart features like auto-lift and advanced navigation system, the yeedi cube is the all-in-one solution for tedious floor cleaning chores. It doubles as a vacuum and mop. Portable and minimalist in its design, it's a worthy investment as an essential smart appliance for all types of houses.

4 EVOVACS DEEBOT X1 OMNI

Overall Score - 4.2/5

Like yeedi, this is also one of the most automated models as well but with a higher price. The overall performance and maintenance is considered as good, but the mapping was wrong when I first tried it.

Why We Picked It

The suction performance was really great with its 5000P suction power which you can change via the app based on the floors you are trying to clean. Also it can self wash, empty, dry and refill which is amazing. The dust bag is larger than average robot vacuums and the empty process was fast within 10 seconds.

I had a two step gap between my kitchen and living room, and Ecovac Omini basically stopped when it reached the edge and turned into another direction. This really helped with houses that had steps or gaps between rooms.

With its AIVI 3D, this robot vacuum has ultra-precise obstacle avoidance and recognition for strategic cleaning. Powered with TrueMapping 2.0 technology, it can easily navigate the spaces of a home by mapping each corner to learn the floor measurements of each room.

My daughter was really into this "OK YIKO" voice assistant. The  sound source localization technology, enabling it to follow commands when it recognizes the voice of the homeowner. Users can activate the smart robot vacuum by saying "OK YIKO" and it's guaranteed to respond to any floor cleaning requests.

Pros & Cons

Pros: AI-powered, self-cleaning abilities, built-in voice assistant

Cons: expensive, inconsistent mopping performance, poor objection recognition when lights are dim

Who Is It For

DEEBOT X1 OMNI is the ideal, modern appliance for residents living in smart homes. It looks futuristic in its design and features advanced capabilities like its AI computing power and TrueMapping 2.0 technology. It can follow specific voice commands such as cleaning under the sofa or the dining area.

5. Narwal T10

Overall Score 4/5

The Narwal T10 is a 4-in-1 robot vacuum and mop with an automatic mop cleaning station. While the mopping worked great, the vacuuming function is not satisfactory and besides, it is expensive.

Why We Picked It

The all-in-one feature was the key highlight of this T10 and the mopping features are quite effective. Unfortunately it prioritized mopping over vacuum, so when in my house, it did not perform great with so many carpets, rugs and runners which required more vacuuming.

The design is quite cute compared to other models with soft curves, and the 10N mopping power did its job in a decent way. However, the price is a little bit higher compared to its functionality.

Pros & Cons

Pros: Effective mopping system, easy to set up, self-washing and self-drying abilities

Cons: costly maintenance, poor performance on carpeted floors, vacuuming and expensive price.

Who Is It For

The Narwal T10 is for homeowners in need of an all-in-one solution for cleaning up hardwood floors and who are keen to its soft curve design.

Conclusion

Homeowners can leverage these top 5 best robot vacuums for efficient cleaning of house floors. They're also suitable for cleaning carpet floors of corporate offices. Each has a unique selling point like the higher suction power of the yeedi cube or the P.O.O.P. of Roomba j7+.

Overall, these robot vacuums are capable of automated cleaning to lessen the burdens of household chores. Cleaning may still not be a one-man job, but with a robot vacuum, homeowners can leave the floor chores to the smart cleaning device.
