The world would no longer see the MagSafe Battery Pack and MagSafe Duo Charger from the Apple Store after unveiling the iPhone 15 series with a USB-C port last week. But an insider now claims that these accessories will soon make a comeback amid the company's new direction.

Apple is going forward with its USB-C shift, a change that has the world in awe as there would now be a charging cable that would rule them all.

Apple's massive hold on the Lightning connector was until 2022 when its last smartphone arrived with the said port. However, some changes were implemented this year in a huge ongoing company transition.

Apple MagSafe Battery and Duo Returning, Insider Says

Bloomberg's Power On Newsletter by Mark Gurman has now claimed a comeback of two Apple accessories that the company has transitioned to USB-C, namely the MagSafe Battery Pack and Duo.

While the original release of both MagSafe accessories centered on Lightning connectors for their power needs, this is expected to change soon.

However, as per Gurman, "Don't hold your breath" as the MagSafe Battery Pack and MagSafe Duo Charger could return "eventually." It may come later than expected, with Apple set to complete its USB-C transition by 2025.

More devices are expected to see the switch to USB-C now that Apple has finally brought one of its top products with the universal charging standard, the iPhone 15.

USB-C Transition for Apple Until 2025

According to The Verge, there are remaining tech that are not yet using USB-C, and these devices could see the shift from this year until 2025.

This gives Apple as much as two years for the transition, with the likes of the new "Magic" accessories for the Mac computers, the AirPods lineup, a new AirPods Max, and the iPhone SE should it continue.

Apple USB-C and Products

The iPhone 15 series sure opened up massive channels for Apple's transition to USB-C, as it was among the company's last flagship devices that remain in the Lightning connector.

Before that, Apple adopted the USB-C, particularly the Thunderbolt technology, first widely used by its 2015 MacBook Pros, featuring four ports for the flagship version with TouchBar.

Apple already completed the USB-C transition on other devices, particularly with the iPad models in the market, with the 2018 iPad Pro being the first to adopt it.

The last device to adopt USB-C on the lineup was the iPad Classic 10th Generation, which debuted in 2022, following the significant shift of Apple products into the charging port.

The new iPhones, iPads, and Macs have all adopted USB-C now, and it is something that can be expected to be available to connect, especially with iPhone 15 Pros, MacBooks, and iPads that feature bidirectional charging and data transfers.

Apple's transition to the universal charging standard is not yet complete, and more devices will soon follow. It is expected to be completed by 2025, with Gurman claiming that the MagSafe Battery Pack and Duo also joining.
