Another week has passed, and we have seen significant development in the ever-evolving world of technology. Tech Times' Weekly Wrap recaps the biggest headlines out of tech last week, and it included one of the most controversial news centering on a Philippine media giant introducing the nation's first artificial intelligence (AI)-generated sportscasters.

In another Asian country, China is debuting its "extraterrestrial" space crystal museum that will look like it lands in a park, courtesy of OPEN Architecture.

Moreover, the anticipated Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty DLC expansion from CD Projekt Red is now here, with the game seeing waves of good reviews.

Philippines' GMA Network to Debut AI Sportscasters

One of the largest media companies in the Philippines, GMA Network, has welcomed the use of AI technologies with its generative AI avatars Maia and Marco to bring sports-related content to its programs soon.

The two AI sportscasters are poised to provide the most recent updates on NCAA Season 99 and cover local and international sports events featuring Filipino athletes. Their reach will extend across multiple social media platforms overseen by GMA Integrated News, GMA Sports, and GMA Synergy.

Maia and Marco owe their existence to the application of various AI technologies, including Image Generation, Text-to-Speech AI Voice Synthesis/Generation, and Deep Learning Face Animation Technology.

"We embrace emerging technologies to stay at the forefront of the media industry by providing our audience with a modern and engaging sports news experience," said Oliver Victor Amoroso, Senior Vice President for GMA Integrated News, Regional TV, and Synergy.

However, the online community's response was not as enthusiastic. The announcement garnered many sad and angry reactions, reflecting some apprehension toward the introduction of AI-generated sportscasters.

China's Space Crystal is Coming

An upcoming "extraterrestrial" space crystal is dropping soon in a park in China. OPEN Architecture has conceptualized this modern architectural marvel called the Space Crystal.

The Chinese architectural firm plans to place this "extraterrestrial-looking" creation on a hill amid a grove of trees in Yantai, China. The building will host a space-themed museum and exhibition areas inside.

The crystalline structure's distinctive black exterior is composed of photovoltaic glass panels that function similarly to solar panels, significantly reducing the building's reliance on the electrical grid.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty

The Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is now available, and this is the only DLC expansion coming from CD Projekt Red for the 2020 game.

It is an iconic additional content and has seen good reviews. Metacritic reviews saw high remarks for the game, with an overall 88 score from the public. The Phantom Liberty DLC also saw a "generally favorable" ranking from gamers and Metacritic, trumping its previous poor reviews with the original game's release.

The expansion promised significant upgrades to the gaming experience, centering on features expected by gamers from the base game. It was regarded as the game that players wanted but did not get from the original Cyberpunk 2077.
