A new ransomware group is claiming that they have successfully hacked "all of Sony systems." The new group is called Ransomed.vc and they claimed that they have successfully been able to launch a ransomware attack on the entertainment giant.

New Ransomware Group is Claiming that It had Successfully Hacked Sony as Per Their Website

The story by Cyber Security Connect reveals that the group had reportedly only been operating since September. This was despite there being previous links that direct to certain forums as well as groups.

It was revealed that during the time since their existence, they have already wreaked havoc with their impressive amount of victims. As per its leak sites, they have revealed their attack on different divisions of Sony.

The Group Took Lines Directly from Wikipedia Regarding the Sony Group Corporation

Ransomed.vc described Sony Group Corporation through lines taken straight from Wikipedia. They uploaded the statement directly on clear and dark nets, revealing that the data that they had hacked is now up for sale.

The group revealed that they were selling data due to Sony not wanting to pay them. The group was still able to display evidence of the hack (proof-of-hack data) showing screenshots of the internal log-in page.

Less Than 6,000 Files were Revealed in the Leak Via the File Tree

It was revealed that the ransomware group was able to post a file tree of the whole leak, which shows how it has less than 6,000 files, as also noted in an article by Kotaku. As per the article by Cyber Security Connect, it was revealed that the number of files was" small" if it were indeed for "all of Sony systems."

The files reportedly included "build log files" and had a wide range of both JAVA and HTML resources. So far, there was no public price listed for the data but the ransomware group provided contact details to Telegram, email, and the Tox messaging service.

The Ransomware Group had a 'Post Date' of Sept 28, 2023, When They Would Publish the Data Wholesale

The group has also revealed a "post date," which was said to be on September 28, 2023, which is presumed when the data would be published wholesale. As of press time, Sony has not acknowledged that they have been hacked, as pointed out by Silicon Angle.

It was noted that Ransomed.vc shows to be an operator and ransomware-as-a-service organization. Upon signing up, the ransomware is reportedly being advertised as being open for "affiliates."

The Group Said They had an Obligation to Report a Violation Under the Data Privacy Law

The ransomware group also had a unique approach in general because of how they claimed to be a "secure solution for addressing data security vulnerabilities" while also operating what was said to be complying with the "GDPR and Data Privacy Laws."

The group itself noted that should they not receive payment, they have the obligation to report a violation when it comes to the Data Privacy Law. The violation would be reported to the GDPR agency, as highlighted on its leak site.
