Color-changing iPhones are a thing of the future, and while this technology is not yet here, Apple claimed that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max may do so when it comes to direct contact with one's skin. It is not limited to this, especially as other materials that tend to transfer color may also appear on the device's body, centering on its new "advanced texture matte" on the back glass or camera area.

This is not a feature, and in fact, a stain, something which Apple claims may result from not using a case.

Apple's support document on how to clean an iPhone has confirmed that the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max are both subject to changing its color when it comes into direct contact with various external factors. This includes the oils from one's hands or fingers, denim, and other items in the pocket or bags that could potentially transfer to the device's body.

This mainly centers on the glasses that have the advanced texture matte, which also means that the iPhone 15 series is not yet fingerprint-resistant despite having a non-glossy finish.

As per Cupertino, this discoloration may resemble a scratch but fret not, as it could be removed when you clean your iPhone immediately after contact or hints of a color change.

Apple Says Users May Clean it, Temporary?

According to Apple, this is only temporary, and the company advises to turn off the device when doing so.

"Use a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth" when cleaning the body or affected areas. The company did not recommend the Apple Cloth ($19), but it sounds like what they are describing is its product.

The company said to avoid cleaning products or use the right ones to disinfect the iPhone. Also, do not use compressed air.

Apple's iPhone Colors and Trends

Every year, people anticipate the new color for an iPhone, both in the base and Pro series releases, which has been one of the factors to consider when buying the device. Not all colors arrive at the smartphone's yearly release, and the Pro is famous for its special limited edition colors that are unique to its series, like the iPhone 13 Pro's Alpine Green that was released later.

On the other hand, the iPhone 14 Pro was given the special Purple edition color on its release, dropping the previous series' Blue and Green exclusive colors in the 2022 Apple smartphone.

In the past years, the staple colors for the iPhone include White, Gold, Black, Silver, and another one called (PRODUCT) RED which centers on giving a share of the profit to the global fund for HIV and AIDS.

This year, the iPhone 15 Pro series saw the special Blue Titanium and the Natural Titanium, with the White and Black, also seeing the titanium-inspired color because of its body. Apple claims that for the 15 Pro series devices, it may change color if a user did not put on a case because of many external factors, a discoloration that may be removed through cleaning and is only temporary.
