Counter Strike 2 has officially dropped and as of press time, the game is available for everyone for free. This comes after the title remained in Limited Test for quite a period before it was finally released as a full game.

Counter Strike 2 Officially Launches as an Update for the Older CS:GO Title

According to the story by Forbes, players who have tried CS:GO will automatically get an update that will transform the title into Counter Strike 2. For those who haven't played CS:GO or don't have it installed, they would need to manually download the official game.

The game was listed as free on Steam and so far has received "Very Positive" user reviews. When it comes to the price, Counter Strike 2 is listed as free but the Prime Status upgrade would still cost buyers extra.

The Valve Complete Pack Bundle Includes Older Titles Like Half Life

Another thing buyers have to pay for, although optional, is the Valve complete pack, which contains all the other Counter Stike games, including the classic ones and the original. The bundle even packs Half Life, another classic title by the same developer.

Fans can check out a trailer uploaded to X, which capitalizes on the retro aspect of the game and how it relives some players' nostalgia. As seen on the video, the original game can be seen played on an older type of PC with an older type of monitor.

Upgrading from CS:GO Will Ensure Players Won't Lose Their Progress and Cosmetics

It was reported that people who are already playing CS:GO won't have to worry about their progress being wasted. This is because all of their cosmetics and progress will automatically be carried over to the new Counter Strike 2.

As noted in the article, although the game is technically just an update to the more current CS:GO title, the game comes as a completely new addition to the series. So far, the game has been overhauled and revealed many gameplay changes.

New Additions Include Smoke Grenade Physics Which Add Different Strategies to the Game

Some of the new additions to the game include how players could enjoy better smoke grenade physics, which are expected to fill even the spaces that the HE grenades disperse. This new metric could be taken advantage of by professional players and become part of their key strategies.

It was also noted that the new engine comes with additional computing power needed in order for people to play the game. This would mean that the upgrade would require a little bit more since it does come with many changes.

It was also revealed that the launch came later than gamers initially expected due to Valve's earlier statements saying it would be launching the game in Summer 2023. It was noted that given Valve's history, the launch of Counter Strike 2 doesn't come as a major delay.
