It is known that Google's mainline Pixel smartphones always see a budget phone release a few months later, but this may not be expected for the Pixel 8a, as a company executive confirmed. There was usually a mid-gen refresher for the Pixel series smartphones, centering on its budget-friendly release that features less of its technology aimed at affordability.

The recent reports claim that the chances are slim for the Pixel 8a to see the light of day, as opposed to the recent Pixel 7a which was released earlier this year.

Google's vice president of mobile business, Nanda Ramachandran has told Der Standard that there are currently no plans for a budget smartphone to release from the company. This recent information has suggested that Google's next low-cost smartphone, expected to be Pixel 8a, is already out of the question, particularly with this recent revelation from the executives.

Various reports from before claim that Google is already planning to bring this next device to succeed that of the Pixel 8 series that was released earlier this October.

Despite the massive expectations and the well-received Pixel devices with the "a" suffix from before (signifying that it is the budget version), the current series would not see one.

No Pixel 8a? Google's Plans

Furthermore, Ramachandran claimed that creating or developing a Pixel 8a would lead to "too many compromises" along the way, as per TechRadar. Google's current plan is to expand the Pixel 8 series to more parts of the world, particularly Europe and Asia, which is a fairly untapped market for the Mountain View smartphone.

Much can change along the way, and this may not yet be a final verdict for the Pixel 8a, particularly as a niche market already awaits it.

Google's Pixel

The Pixel series is booming from Google, and this is because the company still focuses on its self-made consumer technology devices that feature the best of what it has to offer, as well as Android. The latest release centers on the Pixel 8 series, offering two variants including the 8 and 8 Pro, offering the latest Tensor G3 processor, its take on Silicon tech.

Not much has changed from Pixel 7 to Pixel 8, both its base and Pro versions, particularly as it sported the same design, looks, and hardware. Its battery life improved by only a slight margin, and its camera is claimed to have the most changes, with Google offering a slur of AI developments for the smartphone, centering on its massive focus on Bard and the like.

It was previously rumored that Google is already looking to launch a Pixel 8a device, and it was highly rumored that it would also feature the Tensor G3, like regular Pixels do, complete with all of its upgrades. However, these speculations and rumors were recently dispelled by Ramachandran, saying that there are no plans for the smartphone to arrive soon.
