Houston, TX, October 18, 2023: Lilium N.V. (NASDAQ: LILM), developer of the first all-electric vertical take-off and landing (“eVTOL”) jet, has today opened private sales of its eVTOL jets in the U.S. market, in partnership with EMCJET, an industry-leading full-service aircraft brokerage and management company.

Partnering with EMCJET

This strategic partnership sets the stage for Lilium's introduction of its revolutionary Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft to the United States, as stated on its press release. Lilium's overarching vision is firmly anchored in a sustainable and eco-friendly future, marked by zero emissions in the aviation sector.

The company aims to offer elite travelers, which includes corporate executives and existing private jet owners, a seamless and environmentally conscious mode of air travel. This approach will allow them to connect efficiently between local airports and their ultimate destinations, all while circumventing congested airspace.

Additionally, it holds the potential to significantly reduce the carbon footprint of discerning travelers. Matthew Broffman, who serves as the Head of Partnerships and Network at Lilium's U.S. office, articulated the company's eVTOL aircraft as a compelling alternative to conventional helicopters.

This groundbreaking initiative aligns with the growing emphasis on sustainable and eco-friendly air travel, making Lilium a key player in the burgeoning realm of electric aviation.

Lilium's Target Market

These eVTOL aircraft are a far cry from conventional helicopters. They flaunt a modern, streamlined design, packed with cutting-edge technology, and understandably command a substantial price of $10 million, nearly double the cost of their gas-powered private jet counterparts.

As per Interesting Engineering, Lilium does not shy away from acknowledging the premium price point, but they underline their specific target audience: a high-end market segment where the allure of convenience and sustainability outweighs the hefty investment.

In the context of these eVTOLs, Lilium has positioned them as the solution for the "last mile" in air travel. The Lilium Jet boasts an operational range of approximately 110 miles. This figure might seem limited when compared to the impressive 350-400 miles coverage of traditional helicopters and the extensive 2,000-10,000 nautical miles range of private jets.

Nevertheless, Lilium's focus remains on providing a sustainable, efficient, and innovative air travel experience for its discerning clientele.

The Verge reported that Lilium envisions its Jet as an eco-conscious solution that enhances last-mile travel, efficiently bridging the gap between travelers' homes or offices and their private jets, significantly elevating overall convenience.

The suitability of Lilium's eVTOLs is most evident in densely populated urban environments where airspace congestion is a major challenge. Although these aircraft may offer a more limited range, they have the capacity to substantially reduce travel times within bustling cities, facilitating swift journeys from urban locations to private jets.

With the recent partnership, EMCJET has been appointed as Lilium's exclusive dealer in Texas, a collaboration set to extend until 2030. While the initial focus is on prominent Texan cities such as Austin, Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas, the Lilium Jet is poised for nationwide availability in the near future.
