The latest update for the Apple Watch, the watchOS 10.1, is now here for all to enjoy and take advantage of for their wearable watch, including the new "Double Tap" feature to help control it. This new feature is called a gesture-based function, and it will allow users to perform certain actions despite not touching the watch directly on its screen, but still be able to command it.

Cupertino added many new features to the latest Apple operating systems present in different tech, with the watchOS offering more to enjoy for all.

Apple revealed the latest update for the Apple Watch, centering on the watchOS 10.1 that brings the famed "Double Tap" feature. This new function is a big deal for Apple, and it is seen as the Cupertino giant does not normally post details regarding its latest update via its Newsroom website unless it is important.

It is important to note that while watchOS 10.1 is available for all eligible watches, the Double Tap feature can only be used via the Apple Watch Series 9 or the Apple Watch Ultra 2.

This will help users perform a hands-free experience on the Apple Watch, and this means that they can assign a smartwatch function that will correspond to the Double Tap.

To activate this, users only need to press their index finger and thumb at the same time, on the hand where the Apple Watch is worn.

What Does the Double Tap Feature Do?

"With the new double tap gesture, users can easily control the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 using just one hand and without touching the display. Users can tap the index finger and thumb of their watch hand together twice to quickly perform many of the most common actions," as described by Apple.

Double tap can help open the Smart Stack, answer and end phone calls, view a message, scroll through notifications, snooze the alarm, pause and play music, podcasts, and more.

Apple Watch and its New Features

Like how massive the new update versions are for the iPhone, it is also the same for the Apple Watch, as the company brings significant changes and developments for the tech wearable, offering more experiences here. The watchOS 10 is the latest version of the wearable's system, offering a refreshed UI, and various new features which it announced last WWDC 2023, and the new changes that arrived last September

However, the recent event did not only bring the world the latest Apple Watch Series 9 but also the professional and more rugged wearable, the Ultra series. The Apple Watch Ultra 2 is the latest for its adventure and outdoor-focused wearable, offering better capabilities for diving, hiking, and going off-site, with improved durability, dust protection, and water resistance.

The best way to maximize the Apple Watch experience is to update to the latest software version of the gadget, with Apple now having it available for all devices eligible to update. The watchOS 10.1 brings the renowned "Double Tap" feature that does not need to touch the screen to give the command, and with one hand and the pressing of two fingers, users may assign a function for a hands-free experience.
