To provide a more eco-friendly transportation option in urban areas, Honda has introduced its unconventional personal mobility concept for sale in the United States, the Motocompacto.

Honda Launching Motocompacto in the US

This compact, foldable, all-electric micro-motorcycle features three wheels and a compact powertrain integrated into the scooter, allowing it to reach a top speed of 15 mph (25 km/h). 

Interesting Engineering reported that the Motocompacto draws inspiration from Honda's original compact scooter, the Motocompo, which was first introduced in the 1980s.

The Motocompacto scooter is available in the US through Motocompacto.honda.com and select Honda and Acura car dealers, with prices starting at just $995.

Honda Catering to Demands of Modern Urban Mobility

The Motocompacto is ingeniously designed to seamlessly integrate into tight spaces, offering a dynamic commuting experience while allowing individuals to express their unique style. Honda's innovative zero-emissions solution caters to the demands of modern urban mobility.

Wired reported that this provides users with an uncomplicated and enjoyable means of transportation that significantly reduces their environmental impact while ensuring remarkable convenience.

This electric vehicle boasts a permanent magnet, direct drive motor, delivering a peak output of 490 watts and a torque of 11.8 lb.-ft. (16 Nm). It operates with a front-wheel drive configuration, propelling the scooter to a maximum speed of 15 mph (25 km/h).

The built-in battery features a 6.8Ah capacity and can be fully charged within 3.5 hours using a standard 110v power source. With a range extending up to 12 miles (19 kilometers) on a single charge, this eco-friendly mode of transport is ideally suited for short trips and daily commutes.

Motocompacto, a pioneering concept in personal electric mobility, emerged from the collaborative efforts of Honda's engineers based in Ohio and California, resulting in the acquisition of 32 patents. The innovative design allows Motocompacto to fold neatly into a compact, lightweight, and stackable carrying case.

This feature facilitates effortless transportation within a vehicle, seamless integration with public transit, and convenient storage in limited spaces. In a press statement, the development team underscores that the Motocompacto's design prioritizes safety, longevity, and protection.

Nick Ziraldo, the project lead and design engineering unit leader at Honda Development and Manufacturing of America, noted that it utilizes a robust heat-treated aluminum frame and wheels, features a bright LED headlight and taillight, incorporates side reflectors, and includes a welded steel lock loop on the kickstand compatible with most bike locks.
