Generative AI features have made their way to YouTube for testing, and this is courtesy of the massive focus of Google on the technology, centering on 'Ask' and 'Topics' sections to bring additional information. This aims to enhance the streaming experience in the platform, looking to bring extra details that will provide better context and background, as well as compile the same topic comments.

The goal is to provide users with more information via the platform, affixing a more in-depth experience on YouTube, apart from the content provided by creators.

In a recent post by Team YouTube on its support website, the famed streaming platform is looking to introduce generative AI in what it offers, centering on new features to improve streaming. There are two additions for select YouTube users, focusing on "Ask" and "Topics" made available to the platform's new experiences available to enjoy for.

First of all, there is "Ask," which deploys the Google-made AI that will deliver a conversational experience, kind of like a personal Google search that will answer the questions from users. There are also pre-made prompts that users may click to simplify the experience.

On the other hand, there is "Topics" which helps group specific comments that have the same context or, well, topics, which would allow users to dive into their preferred information, summarized by AI.

YouTube AI: Ask, Topics Now Under Testing

The features are now under testing, with the Topics field first seeing its outing from YouTube made available starting today. The Ask feature will be made available next week said Team YouTube.

Both features will be available via this YouTube New website and the team advises that it would not be available to all videos during this testing period. Moreover, both new generative AI features will only be available for YouTube Premium users but did not mention anything about making it an exclusive experience for subscribers once it rolls out.

Google's Massive Focus on AI

For almost the entire year since 2023 started, Google has focused its products, offers, and features on AI and its many forms, particularly with generative artificial intelligence which the public saw an abundance of among companies. The internet company has integrated it into its popular experiences, with its native Search now featuring AI image generation directly available to access.

One of its earliest generative AI work has centered on the assistant known as Bard, and this is Google's point person on everything machine learning, embedded in different aspects of its business that is accessible for all. Bard went from being on its separate page to getting in league with Google Assistant, the renowned Google Workspace, Maps, and more powered by the tech.

With the different aspects of Google getting the famed generative AI to supercharge its features, it does not leave behind another massive part of its business which is YouTube streaming. Now under testing, YouTube may soon make Ask and Topics widely available to users depending on what transpires during this period, looking to improve the experience on the streaming platform.
