The holiday season is often dubbed the most magical time of the year, but it can also put a significant dent in your wallet. In a bid to alleviate some of that financial strain, Google has introduced a new deals hub. When you enter the search term "shop deals" on Google, it will direct you to a dedicated page featuring discounts on various categories, ranging from electronics to fashion.

Introducing Holiday Deals Hub

As the holiday season approaches, Google is simplifying the shopping experience by introducing a dedicated deals hub. Phone Arena reported that this new feature, along with enhancements in Chrome, aims to assist shoppers in locating discounts and monitoring prices for the gifts they intend to purchase.

The deals destination on Google Search streamlines the process of discovering discounted items from various online sources, offering users the convenience of browsing deals by category or searching for specific products by using keywords. This also tailors its recommendations based on shoppers' preferences, taking into account what they typically like to shop for while signed into Google.

Accessing the Feature

To access this feature, simply search for "shop deals" on both mobile and desktop. On desktop, Chrome has introduced a proactive feature that searches for discount codes to help shoppers maximize their savings. When opening a new tab in Chrome, users might encounter a "Resume browsing" card displaying products they recently viewed on shopping websites.

If there are active promotions for any of these products, Mashable reported that Chrome will alert the user. Additionally, a new Discount tag icon in the Chrome address bar allows users to check for available coupon codes on the product page they're visiting. Google is extending its Search "price insights" feature to Chrome on desktop.

These functionalities provide shoppers with valuable information, including the typical price range and a price history graph for a specific product, enabling them to make well-informed purchasing decisions. To access price insights, shoppers can locate the "Shopping insights" label in the Chrome address bar.

On mobile devices, shoppers can click on the bell icon next to a product's name in Search to receive email and push notifications whenever that product's price decreases. On desktop, users can bookmark products in a new Shopping list folder within Chrome to receive price tracking updates when available.

Google has also unveiled its annual Holiday 100 gift guide, which is influenced by the top trending searches of the year. The guide for this year is packed with a diverse range of products, encompassing smart home gadgets, wearable tech, gaming consoles, toys, and more, guaranteeing that you'll have a plethora of gift ideas at your disposal for the upcoming holiday season.

Engadget reported that the company is now stepping into the domain of browser extensions like Honey and Capital One Shopping by introducing a new discount tag icon directly within the Chrome address bar. With a simple click on this button, you can access a list of coupon codes for the website you're browsing, similar to the functionality offered by these other extensions.
