Video game giant Valve, the creator of Steam, has unveiled its latest innovation - the Steam Deck OLED. Building upon the success of its predecessor, this new model promises significant improvements and a few surprises.
While it's fascinating that it's getting the same treatment as Nintendo Switch OLED when it comes to display, it just becomes better, but not faster.
Feast Your Eyes With Steam Deck OLED
If there's a Nintendo Switch OLED, there's also a Steam Deck OLED coming next week. Aside from the display, Valve says it will arrive with a huge battery-life boost.
The most striking feature of the Steam Deck OLED is its enhanced OLED display. Offering a stunning 7.4-inch HDR OLED screen, it's a visual feast for gamers. Valve has reduced the bezels, providing a more immersive experience.
One of the common concerns with portable gaming PCs is battery life. Valve addressed this issue by upgrading the battery to a 50Whr version, a significant improvement from the 40Whr in the launch model.
With this, gamers can expect longer playtime, and the company claims it charges faster so expect to have minimal downtime.

Storage Options
According to IGN, Valve offers the Steam Deck OLED in two storage configurations: 512GB and 1TB. The pricing is competitive, with the 512GB model at $549 and the 1TB version at $649. Plus, it retains the microSD card slot for expandable storage. Pre-orders are just around the corner.
Surprisingly, there are new changes with this console. With the introduction of the Steam Deck OLED, the company is discontinuing the 64GB and 512GB LCD models. This move comes with price cuts on the remaining LCD units, making the Steam Deck more accessible.

Steam Deck OLED Has Wi-Fi 6E
To enhance the gaming experience, the Steam Deck OLED includes a Wi-Fi 6E module, offering faster download speeds and improved online gameplay. While the OLED display boasts a 90Hz refresh rate, it maintains a native resolution of 1280x800.
Limited Edition Steam Deck OLED
Interestingly, fans could grab the limited edition of Steam Deck OLED, but there's a catch. This exclusive model, available in 1TB only, features a stunning translucent design. It comes with a unique carrying case and is priced at $679. Unfortunately, you can only buy this in the US and Canada.
Is Steam Deck OLED Worth a Buck?
If you are a first-time Steam Deck buyer, going for the OLED version is a smarter choice. The upgraded console is better than the first version released in 2022.
You can't go wrong with its improved battery life, not to mention the large storage so you can play more games.
If you have the regular Steam Deck, upgrading is definitely worth it. However, lower your expectations of the performance improvements. Still, the little changes matter, according to Wired.
