A new limited program over at Rivian now offers EV enthusiasts to own the R1T electric pickup without the need to buy it from the company, allowing leasing contracts available across 14 US states. For now, it is only limited to the R1T electric vehicle in the selected states, but Rivian claims that in the future, the company plans to add more models from its lineup and more states to enjoy it.

Leasing cars and the cleaner EVs have been done through auto distributors and third-party companies, but in this latest program by Rivian, it is a direct lease of their pickup.

Rivian provided an answer to their FAQs which talk about leasing, and through this, the company confirmed its latest lease program for the R1T electric pickup, now available for eligible areas.

There are 14 states that this program is available to avail of, including the likes of Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Washington.

According to TechCrunch, Rivian's spokesperson Rachel Maniago further stated that the company is looking to expand more of its leasing program to other states and soon, to add more of its electric vehicle models in the mix. No Need to Buy the EV, Here's How to Join

Leasing means renting for a specified timeframe, usually taking months to years of owning the company before they need to return it. This also means that they are not compelled to buy the electric vehicle.

To join Rivian's leasing program, head on over to the R1T's configurator page on its website, and this will require your ZIP code belonging to the 14 states above. If eligible, Rivian will walk you through the next steps to complete your lease and receive your EV.

Rivian's Electric Vehicle Lineup

Over the past year when Rivian first rolled out its electric vehicles, the company did not see much success in the vehicle market, especially as it lagged in its production of its EVs. This led to the company losing as much as $1 billion, leading to significant workforce cuts, but reported as much as 1,000 EVs that they were able to deliver for customers that preordered.

The company had already delivered as many as 500,000 units of its electric delivery van to Amazon last year, with the collaboration looking at more EVs in the future, centering on cleaner deliveries for them.

The R1T electric pickup has been marketed as an adventure car, and it has proven itself on various testing grounds, showing that clean energy has no limit unlike what was thought of before.

The good thing now is that users do not need to buy and own the vehicle to enjoy what it has to offer, with the R1T now available to lease directly from the company available in the aforementioned US states.
