New year, new look? No, it is just Reddit with its rebrand, with the company now ushering in a brand new face to the public, offering a logo that brings in a more orange color look, alongside the new look of its mascot. Reddit calls this an "evolution" of its brand, offering new Bespoke typography and other new features that users will see rolling out in the app and the platform.

Reddit's rebrand widely centers on the theme of evolution, and as per the company's announcement, the world and its Redditors have changed, and the company is also doing so.

This latest announcement introduces a significant change to the platform, with one of the most noticeable changes being the arrival of a fresh new look for its mascot, Snoo. From being a 2D logo before, Snoo is now looking more cartoonish and in 3D, bringing the new face of Reddit.

On the other hand, the company's banner logo also brings in more orange, as previously, it rested on a white background with only Snoo getting the treatment, now offering an overwhelming solid color for the brand.

Moreover, it introduces a new Bespoke typography, with new fonts like the Reddit Display and Reddit Sans family also updating its elements, including new conversation bubbles and brand colors.

Why Did Reddit Bring a Redesign of its Brand?

The refresher for Reddit comes at a time when the company is facing controversy and its alleged IPO.

However, Reddit claims that its decision to rebrand was because of its future goals.

"Fast forward to today, a lot has changed in the world and with Reddit, so it's the perfect time to evolve our brand to be more integrated, intuitive, and global," said Reddit.

Reddit and the Renowned Platform

Since Reddit was introduced to the world, the company has been regarded for being a platform that offers a gateway to connecting communities and offers a social news aggregator site for all. This is where people go on to share their stories about certain problems, some using the platform to connect with people who have common interests, or simply speak their minds.

However, earlier this year, Reddit faced a significant controversy after the company decided to follow X's footsteps into making its API a paid service, as opposed to years of having it freely accessible. This led to many app developers pulling out from their API access and shutting down their apps for good, but others decided to forge on and accept the massive fees.

In the previous months, Reddit had a significantly rocky relationship with the Redditors, but more importantly, among moderators who protested against the many changes in the platform. After the spread of their potential IPO this year, Reddit went ahead and delivered a rebrand to the company, and while it features the same elements as before, this refresh gives the platform an all-new look.
