Gogoro, a popular company for its innovative battery-swapping electric scooters, continues its global expansion, now reaching the Philippines with a focus on consumer sales.

While Gogoro initially targeted commercial clients managing fleets of electric scooters, it has strategically broadened its offerings to cater to everyday riders seeking eco-friendly commuting solutions.

As part of its strategy to expand its operations around the world, Gogoro is taking its business from Taiwan to the Philippines. Filipinos should expect to see a surge of electric scooters sooner.

Gogoro's claim to fame extends beyond its electric vehicles, notably featuring a groundbreaking battery-swapping system. This system, a prevailing standard for light electric vehicle battery swaps, has witnessed over a million battery productions and facilitates close to half a million daily swaps within Gogoro's extensive rider network.

The company, originating from Taiwan, initially entered the Philippines by collaborating with B2B delivery firms to deploy scooters equipped with the innovative battery-swapping service.

Building on this foundation, Gogoro has now broadened its reach, offering consumer sales in the Philippines.

"Today is an important milestone in the transformation of urban mobility in the Philippines. Gogoro's battery swapping and Smartscooters provide a positive path for Filipino consumers and businesses to embrace smart and sustainable transportation. This is the culmination of like-minded companies coming together to form a groundbreaking partnership to address the sustainability and transportation challenges, like dense traffic, long commutes and mass pollution, that exist in the Philippines. We are honored to be partnering with Ayala, Globe and 917Ventures," Gogoro's founder and CEO Horace Luke said.

Dual Opportunity for Commercial and Consumer Riders

Gogoro Philippines, established through a joint venture involving Ayala Corporation, Globe's 917Ventures, and Gogoro, signifies a milestone in climate tech for the Globe Group.

This expansion opens avenues for both commercial and consumer riders to benefit from Gogoro's leading battery-swapping standard and its track record of excellence in electric scooter design and manufacturing.

Vision Beyond Environmentally Conscious Transportation

Bernie Llamzon, President and CEO of Gogoro Philippines, sees the launch as a catalyst for lifestyle transformation and an environmentally friendly alternative to combustion-engine motorbikes.

Llamzon tackles the huge role of Gogoro's battery-swapping technology in providing a convenient and eco-friendly refueling solution, per Electrek.

Global Reach of Gogoro

From its inception in Taiwan, Gogoro has rapidly expanded its operations, reaching China, India, Indonesia, Israel, Singapore, South Korea, and its home base, Taiwan.

The company's foray into the Philippines marks another strategic move in establishing a global footprint for its innovative and sustainable urban mobility solutions.

Swappable Gogoro Batteries on Project X EV

Back in late October, Gogoro unveiled that there's a tiny car that relies on its scooter batteries. Just like its other vehicles, owners can replace them without stopping by an EV charging station.

Dubbed Project X, the vehicle just resembles a little toy. Interestingly, its design should not be ignored as it contains four seats and sliding doors, according to The Verge.

Of course, its capability is limited by its size as it can only travel for about 105 miles. Still, it's not bad for this range given it's only running using a set of batteries.
