The next generation of CarPlay is coming next year, and Apple has officially confirmed the availability of this new version for all to deliver a different kind of experience with massive improvements along the way. This new release would also center on new cars it will be available to, offering the connected experience in a more significant cohesive design to capture the smartphone-to-car link.

Despite the many shut-offs against the CarPlay, there are still many car manufacturers who are on-board Apple's in-car systems to deliver a truly hands-free experience.

Reports from Car and Driver and Cool Hunting have detailed the next-generation Apple CarPlay's arrival, with the on-board system arriving in 2024 to deliver the new features. One of the main focuses of this new CarPlay experience is its integration into other in-car displays, particularly with the instrument cluster and modern screens equipped in vehicles that extend more of the experience.

As first announced by Apple in WWDC 2022, this next-gen CarPlay will center on upgrading the experience in newer cars, especially electric vehicles that are getting these new features.

Apple would also center on using more of the vehicle's data including the speed, fuel level, temperature, and more from the gauges.

What Cars Will Get the Next-Gen CarPlay

The next-generation CarPlay was confirmed for two vehicle brands, and this includes Porsche and Aston Martin to get this extended, 'ultimate iPhone experience for the car.' It is widely known that Porsche is all aboard the CarPlay wagon, but this is the first time that Aston Martin was mentioned, also not part of the list.

It was not revealed which exact models of the Porsche and Aston Martin brands are getting this next-gen CarPlay, but watch out for vehicles with extended displays as they are the most likely to get it.

Apple's CarPlay: Hands-Free Experience

The next-generation CarPlay was announced to the world in the previous Apple WWDC 2022 event where the company promised improvements and a more immersive experience with cars. One of the main features of this is that this feature would transition from the infotainment system to the car's driver cluster instrument, offering its version of a heads-up display.

Despite the many integrations of Apple and the long list of features it unveiled to the world, it is not enough for other car manufacturers who are looking to opt out of the experience.

First off, there was General Motors' renowned defiance of CarPlay which led to the company dropping it from their cars, alongside BMW and Tesla.

It was mentioned by Ford before that many in the country are using iPhones, and removing the CarPlay experience would only render their connections to the infotainment system useless, leading to more using their devices.

That being said, the next generation of CarPlay is set to arrive in 2024, offering the world a chance to get an upgraded experience, in a more immersive platform.
