Microsoft's Super Bowl advertisements prove to have paid off alongside Chinese shopping application Temu after the two applications racked up downloads in various application stores, NBC reports.

On Monday, Paramount+, Copilot, and Temu were reportedly the top three most downloaded free apps in Apple's App Store. The Super Bowl saw advertisements from all three businesses, and the event was streamed on Paramount+, which helped it climb to the top of the chart. Temu is the sixth most popular app on Google Play, the app store where Android users may download apps.

Microsoft said it would protect buyers of its artificial intelligence (AI) products from copyright lawsuits by introducing the Copilot Copyright Commitment.

Microsoft's Super Bowl commercial, which reportedly marks its first appearance in the game in four years, demonstrates its attempts to reposition itself as an AI-focused business.

The one-minute ad, uploaded to YouTube on Thursday, shows users accessing the AI chatbot Copilot through their smartphones. The application is reportedly demonstrated as assisting users in automating various tasks, including producing computer code snippets and producing digital artwork.

The advertisement was reportedly aimed at showing the viewers that Microsoft's Copilot app is getting an update that includes a sleeker, cleaner look and recommended prompts that may assist users in taking advantage of the app's AI capabilities.

Temu's Advertisement Spending

On the other hand, the Chinese shopping application Temu produced four identical Super Bowl advertisements with a song and the slogan "Shop like a billionaire," along with $15 million in giveaways this year.

The advertisements reportedly moved social media users, and numerous posts went viral ridiculing Temu's low-cost products and its seeming capacity to run so many advertisements.

Temu's advertisements have shown to be effective not just in the Super Bowl, as Temu has had tremendous growth in less than two years, according to market research firm Sensor Tower, which revealed this on Monday. Temu ranked as the sixth most downloaded app worldwide and the most downloaded app in the United States in 2023.

According to sources, Temu's significant advertising expenditure on social media sites such as Facebook spent more than any other store in 2023's final months except for Amazon-grew the company's popularity.

Super Bowl Advertisements' Dominance

Super Bowl commercials have always had the power to influence both established and up-and-coming firms significantly, especially amidst the increasing fragmentation of viewing audiences brought about by the growth of social media and streaming platforms.

The arguably biggest event in American sports has emerged as the most-watched primetime show in recent years, as the event reportedly drew almost 115 million viewers in 2023, which is twice as many people as the second most-watched broadcast event of that year.

Early estimates by a viewership monitoring company called iSpot indicate 126.6 million people watched Super Bowl 2024, or Super Bowl LVIII, on CBS and other platforms. This tops last year's viewership count, but final estimates have yet to be released.
