An outage hit Wyze as more complaints bombarded the forum. Many owners reported that they cannot connect their cameras through the app.

In forum discussions addressing the service outage, users expressed frustration over their inability to access their security cameras through the Wyze app.

Some reported that their cameras appeared offline, while others found that their devices had vanished from their accounts altogether. Additionally, users encountered app crashes, further exacerbating the situation.

Wyze is Currently Investigating the Downtime

Wyze has acknowledged the issue but has yet to provide detailed insights into its cause. While the company has not issued an official comment, an update on its customer service forum at 9:31 AM ET confirmed that they are aware of the problem and are actively investigating it.

"We are currently receiving reports of offline devices and login difficulties. We are currently looking into the issue and will have an update as soon as we have more information. Thank you for your patience."

Despite some customer service messages attributing the issue to a "partner service," Amazon Web Services (AWS), one of Wyze's service providers, has not reported any outages at the moment.

Wyze Has a History of Privacy Incidents

Although Wyze is known for its popular home security products, it has faced privacy incidents in the past. In 2023, users reported a significant privacy breach where they could access camera feeds from other users' devices due to a web caching issue.

Wyze attributed this incident to technical glitches, resulting in users' devices being replaced by feeds from strangers' cameras, exposing the inside of their homes.

Before that happened,  we previously reported that hackers might have been feasting on you through Wyze security cameras without you knowing.

At that time, research from Bitdefender discovered three glaring flaws which gave the hackers a green light to easily access the devices.

First, the cameras can evade the authentication process, making them vulnerable to remote hacking. Second, they can access the live feeds, and last, the SD cards paved the way for them to access the content of the security cams.

As Wyze investigates the current service disruption, users remain hopeful for a swift resolution to regain access to their devices and ensure the security of their smart home setups.
