The feature that Spotify introduced last year, 'Jam,' is now available on desktop platforms for users to enjoy, allowing significant real-time music streaming with friends on the app. Initially, Spotify introduced this feature on the iOS and Android platforms only, but it now expands the connected streaming experience on PCs and engages in sessions from whenever and wherever.

In this shared experience, users may invite their friends, family, colleagues, and more to enjoy music streaming under one session where they can collaborate and decide which songs to play.

According to the latest blog post from Spotify, a new update for the Desktop platform now offers the Jam feature available for friends, families, and mutuals to come together and enjoy a collaborative listening experience.

Through this integration, users who are on a desktop may connect to their Spotify contacts if they are on iOS, Android, or PC for synced music streaming. It also means that users no longer have to rely on their iOS or Android Spotify apps to enjoy Jam with their friends.

Stream Real-time Music with Friends on Spotify

Through Jam, Spotify users may stream real-time music with friends on the app, and this means that whatever is playing on their Jam Now Playing music, is also what is available to their friends. Additionally, users may add music to the Queue and also skip songs that they do not like.

Users who started the Jam may turn these control functions off as well. Those creating the Jam may add people via a link that Spotify will provide, but this experience is only available for Premium users.

Joining the Jam is available for all Spotify users (Free or Premium).

Also, Spotify is updating the Queue experience that will place it at the right sidebar of the Desktop and open the main or middle part of the app available to browse the feed or other content.

Spotify's New Streaming Features

Last September, Spotify first introduced the Jam feature on its iOS and Android platform to allow listeners to be joined by friends in a session, centering on the new bonding time over the app. This allows users to join their mutuals on the platform to listen to the same music in real-time, and here, they may also change the song or add to the Queue in a collaborative approach.

The company also refreshed the Spotify Desktop app's UI for Windows, Mac, and the web with a brand new look, focusing on a revamp that changes the experience after years. In this new experience, users may get to see a three-part layout on their computers which offers the menu tab on the left, Spotify's feed in the middle, and details about the mix, playlist, artist, and other metrics on the right.

Despite nearing 20 years in the tech and music industry, there are still massive developments available on Spotify's platform now, including the arrival of new features for its experience. The Jam is incredibly helpful for helping Spotify friends connect in a collaborative environment, now available on desktop platforms to enjoy a real-time experience for music streaming.
