Reports suggest that select models of the upcoming iPhone 16 will sport thinner bezels, thanks to the innovative Border Reduction Structure (BRS) technology. This advancement aims to optimize the screen's internal circuitry layout, allowing for slimmer bezels while maintaining optimal display performance and device aesthetics.

With rumors pointing out the release of the iPhone 16 models, the latest focuses on the slimmer bezels of the upcoming smartphones.

Implementing BRS technology requires intricate manufacturing processes. These processes ensure precise placement of internal circuit components and involve bending certain wiring beneath the bezel.

By achieving a more compact layout, Apple aims to enhance the visual appeal of its devices without compromising functionality, according to the South Korean newspaper The Elec.

Diversification in Component Supply

Central to this manufacturing challenge are the Display Driver ICs (DDIs), which regulate pixel activation and illumination on OLED panels. To meet Apple's standards, LG Display is expanding its DDI supply chain by partnering with Novatech from Taiwan, alongside its existing supplier, LX Semicon. This strategic move aims to improve quality control and reduce production costs.

Will Other iPhone 16 Models Get Thinner Bezels?

While details remain unclear, it is speculated that the introduction of slimmer bezels may be reserved for the higher-tier iPhone 16 Pro models, MacRumors writes. These models are anticipated to feature larger displays without a significant increase in overall device size. Notably, the iPhone maker has previously prioritized bezel reduction in its Pro lineup, hinting at a similar strategy for the upcoming release.

Previous iPhone 16 Rumors

Back in November, Tech Times reported that Apple will finally address the overheating issue thanks to the rumored heatsink feature.

Since the iPhone 15 models have reported cases of overheating, the Cupertino firm needs to step this time to avoid such problems with future handsets.

If this is true, it would be a game-changer for those worried about the thermal issues of the iPhone 16 variants.

In the same month, the publication also reported that iPhone 15's successor will not be getting a Touch ID from Apple.

This particular rumor suggested that Apple would ditch an in-display feature that has been around for years. At the same time, it also hinted that the Face ID will be available for the next iPhone SE version.

While other iPhone users think that removing Face ID will cause them a lot of problems in terms of security, some wish that the iPhone 16 will retain it.

Meanwhile, Apple Vision Pro brings Spatial Personas, the 3D representations of users. The new VR headset appears to be lending the same feature from Meta, the company behind the AI avatars on Metaverse.

While some people think that these avatars are fun to use, some do not buy the idea that you can use your 3D version and interact with others. They find it "creepy" to begin with.
