Electronic Arts EA Play service is experiencing a price hike, which the company confirmed earlier today. However, the increase affects current and new subscription members differently.

The company's decision to raise the subscription prices looks to line it up with the "market value," with all service tiers seeing significant price increases throughout the service.

Other streaming services have previously effected price hikes, with EA now looking to line up with the market for what it offers from its famed titles.

EA Play's subscription is now seeing a price hike, and the company confirmed that this is a global increase for all users under the service.

Electronic Arts is already starting to send emails to notify users. This will take effect in all territories where EA Play is available, with Gamesindustry.biz citing that this new costing structure was made to "bring fees in line with market value."

The standard EA Play tier is now at $6 per month, up by $1 from its previous $5 pricing.

On the other hand, the premium tier, EA Play Pro, is now available for $17 per month, $2 more expensive than the previous $15.

It also affects the annual pricing for the EA Play Pro, which is more expensive by as much as $20 from $100, now at $120 per year.

What can you expect from the increased EA play pricing?

Gamers who are new to the service and are only starting their subscriptions now will face the price increase from the company. However, for existing members or long-time subscribers, the price hike will take effect next month, May 10.

Reports claim that this follows Microsoft and Sony's series of price increases from last year and is now in line with Ubisoft+ Premium's current monthly offer of $18.

EA Play and Game Subscription Services

Last year, several game subscription services affected a price increase for their monthly or annual deals, with top services like Microsoft and its Xbox Game Pass seeing global hikes

Sony's PlayStation Plus subscription service followed it later, but it only increased the price for the 12-month or 1-year bundle.

On the other hand, Electronic Arts' EA Play has stayed at the same price for various years, only seeing minimal changes since the company launched it.

It is best known for offering the experience on console and PC platforms to receive selected top EA games in these platforms, leveraging renowned titles to be part of the subscription experience.

EA decided it was time for EA Play to be level with the market and brought one of its most significant price increases for global users and subscribers.

From the Standard tiers down to the EA Play Pro subscriptions, users worldwide will see as much as $1 to the highest increase of $20 for their monthly or annual payments, effective today.
