Opera's gamer-focused browser, Opera GX, gets a brand new set of features that aim to make browsing easier and more useful for gamers. The update lets you work with multiple tabs side by side, adds new tab management features, and integrates Bluesky, the hot new social media app, right into the Opera GX sidebar.
We're always juggling tabs in our browsers, especially when we're working on our stats or character sheets. If you don't have a massive monitor setup, it can be frustrating. Opera GX now lets you split your tab views across the same window via drag and drop. Just drag a tab down to connect it to either side of your current tab or right click after selecting two tabs and choose "Create Split Screen."
The new update has Tab Traces, a new way to easily track your tabs. You can now see the five most recently used tabs and instantly access recently visited pages. Switching back and forth between your game in one tab and your character builds in another is now even simpler than before. This feature shows up once you have 30 tabs opened, you monster.
If you juggle a ton of web pages, gaming streams, and game guides in multiple tabs, now you can organize them all together into groups of related tabs. They collapse into little "islands" so you can keep your workspace clutter-free and just get to the gaming. Create an island for each game, or for your favorite Twitch streamers, or whatever you like. Tab Islands are created automatically when links from one page are opened in a new tab, and can be expanded or collapsed as you need.
Opera GX also added the ability to put emojis on your tabs so you can identify them more quickly with a visual cue. "Whether you prefer a skull, fire, or eggplant emoji, you can choose to easily spot a Twitch stream, meme page, playlists, or anything else," wrote the company in its press release. You'll need to turn on the Early Bird option in Settings to get this fun little feature.
Finally, Opera GX adds Bluesky integration right into the sidebar, letting you browse and post the hot new Twitter replacement without having to leave your game or stream.
