You didn't ask for it, but here it is: Gemini's AI summaries are now baked into Gmail on your phone, whether you want them there or not.
The new summary cards, initially announced last year as an optional side panel for Gmail, are now the default for iOS and Android. That means you'll see the AI-generated overviews automatically, right above emails that Google thinks make sense to provide them for, like longer threads, or messages with several replies.
You don't have to tap a little "summarize" button anymore, either; they'll just appear. You'll have to dig deep into the settings to opt out of the "experience." It's part of Google's continuing efforts to go all in on AI, from Search to email.
Google says that Gemini will synthesize all the key points from the email thread and drop it on top of the first email in the Gmail app. New replies will get folded into the synopsis, as well, keeping it all up to date.

So far, the feature is only available for emails in Engliish, and will still allow you to tap a button for email summaries that Google doesn't automatically create for you.
It's available starting now to all Google Workspace users, including Business Starter, Standard and Plus;
Enterprise Starter, Standard and Plus; Google One AI Premium; Customers with the Gemini Education or Gemini Education Premium add-on; and anyone who previously purchased Gemini Business or Gemini Enterprise add-ons. It will rollout immediately to Rapid Release domains and gradually to Scheduled Release domains starting on May 29.
Your Workspace admin can turn the default personalization setting on or off for all their users in the Admin console.
