The "Tomb Raider" remake is well underway from Crystal Dynamics, and the game's developer and rights owner recently addressed key details about the title that may have its fans hating it.
'Tomb Raider' Remake: Changing One Key Aspect
A recent press event hosted by Crystal Dynamics (via GamesRadar) unveiled many details regarding the future of the "Tomb Raider" franchise, including a key aspect that will change in the upcoming "Tomb Raider" remake.
According to Crystal Dynamics, the evolution of gaming is one of the reasons behind this upcoming change, with the company looking to adapt this remake to suit "modern player tastes."
Crystal Dynamics hinted that the game's difficulty will also see improvements in the upcoming "Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis" title.
"Part of reimagining a game right is adjusting that game evolving for modern player tastes," said Will Kerslake, a Crystal Dynamics developer.
"It is core to the Tomb Raider experience that there are puzzles in combat and traversal and death-defying action. [...] You'll see big rolling balls, and you know, the things that you expect in a Tomb Raider game are going to be there in spades," he added.
The long-time fans of "Tomb Raider" and those who have played the original game from almost 30 years ago may have suffered and wasted significant time in certain parts of the game to complete it, but that could no longer be the case in the upcoming remake.
Because of Kerslake's recent statement, "Legacy of Atlantis" may deliver an easier game to play, fit for all types of gamers.
Fans May Hate Changes to 'Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis'
According to ComicBook Gaming, the OG fans of the first game may hate this change in the upcoming "Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis" remake, as this unforgiving experience is one of the defining aspects of the franchise.
However, the report also shared that Crystal Dynamics' decision to tone the game down is also a great thing for the remake. Not only does Crystal Dynamics dedicate the game's remake to fans of the original game, but it also aims to introduce the "Tomb Raider" franchise to the new generations of players who are set to discover the series through this reintroduction.
Crystal Dynamics' The Game Awards showcase introduced the two new projects under the "Tomb Raider" franchise, with one being the "Legacy of Atlantis" remake.
The second will be a new mainline series title called "Tomb Raider: Catalyst," and it will continue the adventures and trials of Lara Croft, launching in 2027.
