A new report has revealed that Nintendo may be working on a Switch 2 hardware revision based on a newly discovered code.

With this, many have already been speculating on what this could potentially be, particularly as it could be for a Switch 2 "Lite" version or something else entirely/

Nintendo Switch 2 Hardware Revisions Are Coming

According to a new report by GameRant, various posts on several social media platforms have claimed that Nintendo is planning to deliver "hardware revisions" to the less-than-a-year-old Switch 2 console.

It was revealed by a user called "Sky" on Bluesky that the Nintendo Account Portal has a hidden code about an "unused model code" under the "OSM" designation, which points to a console.

The source argued that this is different from the existing Nintendo Switch 2 console, as it was designated the "BEE" code on the website, so this unusual code may be a different piece of hardware.

The source also claimed that each Switch model has an image from the Nintendo Account Portal, and after requesting an image of the OSM model, the website returned with an image of a Switch 2.

According to another source called Aaron Dewes (via Bluesky), they used Wayback Machine to verify the website for the said code, and the archive of the URLs gave a timeline on when these were uploaded by Nintendo.

Dewes claimed that the code and its files were added by Nintendo on the website between "1757403917 (9th September 2025) and 1758006697 (16th September 2025)."

The source also said that they initially speculated it to be new Joy Con colors for the Switch 2, but they said that "chameleon seems to ignore colors passed to BEE and OSM."

Is This For the Lite Version?

There are speculations that this new hardware revision points to a Nintendo Switch 2 Lite, following the same footsteps as the original console release that included the Switch Lite in its lineup.

However, there is still no further evidence or information that points to a Switch 2 Lite release.

That said, another user claimed that "OSM" may refer to "Oshaberi Super Mario," with the Japanese word "oshaberi furawa" translating to "Talking Flower." This is speculated by GameRant to be the "Talking Flower" Nintendo was planning on releasing this year, but it is a toy and not a console.
