'Fable' is Coming to PS5 in Autumn 2026—Here's What You Have to Know

Playground Games is back with another open-world RPG that you will love soon.

"Forza Horizon" is one of the best game series from Playground Games. If you miss their games, you're going to come back sooner once you hear about the reboot of the long-awaited "Fable" title. It is expected to be released in Autumn 2026.

Originally teased in 2017, this new entry promises a fresh start for the beloved franchise while paying tribute to Lionhead Games' legacy. Director Ralph Fulton said that this iteration is a complete open-world action RPG, offering players freedom, deep customization, and immersive storytelling.

Hero's Journey Begins in Albion

Players begin as children in Briar Hill, witnessing a catastrophic event that turns everyone, including their grandmother, into stone. Early access to Albion's open world lets players explore a land full of rival gangs, magical mushroom forests, sprawling fields, and towering castles. The game promises a visually rich adventure where exploration is as rewarding as combat.

Combat, Magic, and Hero Customization

"Fable" 2026 features melee, ranged, and magical combat, including classic abilities like transforming enemies into chickens. Players can customize their hero's appearance, attire, and powers, facing familiar foes like Hobs alongside brand-new creatures, including giant, fire-breathing chickens.

Dynamic World That Reacts to You

The world of Albion is more interactive than ever. With over 1,000 named NPCs, players can purchase property, manage businesses, marry, have children, and directly influence the lives of the kingdom's residents.

NPCs respond to your reputation and choices, making every decision impactful and shaping the game world permanently. For more open-world RPGs, click here.

Choices That Change the Landscape

Major decisions carry lasting consequences. For example, sparing or slaying a giant, voiced by Richard Ayoade, affects property ownership and the surrounding landscape. You need to think deeply about every action because the game will allow you to change the world through your choices.

While the demo emphasized world-building and interactivity, Playground Games has hinted that the franchise's signature humor and charm will return, with comedians like Ayoade contributing to the experience.
